Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour

They've now played 62 songs so far across 15 shows, apparently - quite the haul. Sadly, most of them have been unremarkable set lists, with the exception of the two nights 'Broken' has been trotted out. I've seen a couple of shows so far on the tour and have four more, but I really think this is the...

Re: PERRY FARRELL Signs With BMG For New Solo Album, 'Kind Heaven'

Shoot me for even considering going to this. It just feels like it will be akin to Satellite Party, again. The press release lists big names for the album, but it will end up being Etty and some variation of goons like Carl 'the clown' Restivo.

Re: DN on Ernie Ball String Theory

7. The segment starting at 7:17 where he reportedly uses the past tense for Jane's Addiction, as though they're no longer a going concern.

Lord knows I don't pay attention in the way I used to, but have I missed something? He later refers to it in the present, in passing, but it was kind of glaring.

Re: Nothing's Shocking turns 30

I'm not a parent, but this kind of seems (to me) like debating which of your three kids you prefer. I'll brace myself for scoffs from your grownup types on how ridiculous the analogy is. NS changed my trajectory in terms of music, my world view, and to some extent my life. Some songs I may be perfec...

Re: 1.2M house: Toronto vs other cities

Funny. I just looked up this house to check the price, having driven past it earlier in the afternoon. One would have hoped for at least two full bathrooms, when coughing up the best part of $2m. Apparently not; well done San Francisco. https://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Francisco/2373-14th-Ave-94116/hom...

Re: What’s the worst thing about living in the US?

Answering that is indeed complicated, as has been said. I wouldn't argue with anything that's said above, but my take on it is a little different. As a Brit living in the US, the thing I have found increasingly difficult is stacking of the system against Josephine and Joe Public. The utter greed whe...

Re: The Smashing Pumpkins

This is beyond atrocious. Really. I wouldn't expect anything more...or anything at all, from CL. And she met that zero expectation. Just. Corgi is an utter joke. Insert Uncle Fester quip. It's pathetic. What's worse that both of the above is Hooky's insistence (of trying) to cash in on the JD legacy...

Re: Cure at Hyde park

EC - seeing this late, sorry. Yes, I went, sadly. Chalk me up as dead inside; this was a clusterfuck, IMHO. I've seen the Cure c.60 times, and with the exception of one other festival, this was at the bottom of the list. The crowd was awful, and the sound was particularly shit - I get that both of t...

Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour

I think Trent just picks a band like Jesus and Mary Chain to open for him because he probably idolized them as a teenager. I'm not knocking it, i'd do the thing in his position. They actually toured together in the US in 1990 (nin as the opening act for JAMC), so I think some of it is also a nod to...

Re: NIN + Jesus And Mary Chain Tour

I echo the sentiment about studio output in recent years - or, since The Fragile, to be frank. But the band he puts together always delivers, and I expect nothing less this time around. For a long time, nin had been good at mixing up the set lists and keeping shows fresh, but that started to suffer ...

Re: Best free concert you ever attended

Hey! Yeah, that was a great gig not least because we got My Time thanks to PB! I remember Perry asking the band what they wanted to play next and Stephen said "something new!" but Phenobarb Bambalam called for My Time and so we got it! Well remembered - I had long since forgotten that detail! :rock...

Pretty sure of it - Perry had said "maybe tomorrow" with a wink a couple of times in the days before. Given how rarely they've played it, it seems unlikely that it was random.

Re: Best free concert you ever attended

JA flash mob in London, 2003. Had hounded Perry several nights in a row for "My Time" and they played it as one of the five songs that night - it was a perfect moment.
