New Poppy Jean Crawford track (Casey’s daughter)

https://buzzbands.la/2019/10/04/stream- ... ld-tricks/

From her forthcoming album on Danger Mouse’s label. She might fare well with the right producer.

Re: NME performance

I mean, they’re tuned down to mud, but there’s a spark. Perry is almost old Perry hip. Not the grotesque yoga Liberace he was by NIN/JA (which as a 1.0 attendee, broke my heart but forced me to accept that sometimes you can’t go home again). And now it’s more than a decade in the rearview. What an a...

Sounds like an outtake from TGEA, but without a "good" guitar solo.

Thanks for that. I bet the saddest thing is it’s not even cathartic to reflect on this crap.

Interesting. Maybe I should know this, but why were you selected to do this? Oh, I was a music writer for a bunch of my life, and have worked in the music industry the whole time. I have a couple of books coming out in 2019... the first one is on William S. Burroughs and musicians — https://www.roc...

Talking about Nothing's Shocking this Sunday in DC

I sometimes give talks at a local record store/cafe/venue in DC as part of a global series called Classic Album Sundays. For this edition, I've been tapped to discuss Nothing's Shocking. If you happen to be in the area, come on by!

Re: Jane's Addicted - SoCal Tribute band playing live

Found this out there in the wild. These folks are all in. Well, for three songs, anyway. It has its moments. I actually like that they look like an aging biker hippie doom metal band.

Re: Introduction to my books about Burroughs and Musicians

Thanks for the tease. As much as the intro taught me, it raises as many questions. It occurred to me that the reader of your book would be underserved without having read WB extensively. In your estimation, how much would be lost on the reader without having read his catalogue? Beautifully written ...

Re: Introduction to my books about Burroughs and Musicians

Nice intro, looking forward to your book. This very short out-take from a U2 video shoot shortly before Burrough's death always cracks me up. He could be an intimidating, even terrifying guy even in his final years.... pKdDok8F4jI Yeah, it's a classic. By the way, I'm listening to KJ's Pylon right ...

Re: Introduction to my books about Burroughs and Musicians

Yeah, it's mass market, not academic, so it will be well distributed. The marketing is probably going to be focused on hoity toity book review journals, magazines, and newspapers, where they still exist. All the ones with New York in the name, basically. I want to do Maron. That's my one personal go...

Introduction to my books about Burroughs and Musicians

Comes out this year on University of Texas Press. I’m just finishing up with the manuscript. Thought some of you may want to look at the intro, which is basically the book’s thesis.

Re: "Pirates, Punks & Politics" feat. Perry Farrell

this track is great. i believe one of the reasons it sounds great is that it's standard A440. isn't this like the first thing perry's done that's not tuned down a half or whole pitch, since 1997? the E-flat version of jane's just ain't great. it takes all the urgency out of everything, there's no f...
