Re: Killing Joke

Just getting to this, thanks for posting. This is a great recording, and they were in top form! The classics sounded really, really good. Some of the newer tracks can be a little clunky, but still good. I'm actually okay this is the first set of US dates i've missed in 10 years. Like you sa...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

Warren would never say that, but she should and add: "...many of you were duped and in big trouble, I am truly sorry about that, and here is some money to relieve your burden." This is what I am trying to get at. Higher education is no panacea, and in fact is an unnecessary burden to a ton of kids w...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

Yup.
I have a degree from the Corporation of Oregon, '00.
They purged the "U" in 1999.
Here is $1.2 Trillion, now be on your merry way will make this much, much worse if there are not significant qualifiers to the plan.

That has to be a major concern of yours from an academic standpoint.

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

I am also not saying that Warren's plan is fundamentally unworkable or unnecessary. Certainly something needs to be done to relieve debt and offer more opportunity. But it does need to be clear how it addresses the long term structural problems with higher education. In 10 years a 4-year state degre...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

I think this gets to the heart of divide here. Is anyone who sacrifices to play by the rules that are rigged against them and struggles, but gets by, and then questions why those that are more privileged than themselves would receive massive assistance a bad/bitter person? Understanding that nuance ...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

Tennessee free college is a good example to follow. However, relying on lottery dollars effectively is a huge regressive tax. That came about in 2014, a couple years before Bernie was on the national radar. Even though it is popular, I rather doubt implementing Tennessee Promise today would work in ...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

As much as I hate Trump and his brand of bigoted crony capitalism, I just don't see Bernie doing well against him. Both Bernie and Warren are playing a very short game. Overburden students and their parents who took loans they cannot repay is a terrible injustice in our system. But outright forgiven...

Re: Pineapple on pizza

Pineapple with canadian bacon is second to pepperoni for your run of the mill pizza place. Just cheese for a good ny slice. Little Star in SF has the best deep dish cornmeal crust with sausage and some other veggies. Viccolo's sausage pizza is really good for home cooked. https://images-na.ssl-image...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

Beto seems fine in his emphatic mealymouthness. It could be a winning strategy if he makes a stand out from the crowd celebrity status of himself and stays confidently vague. :noclue: The instant he apologizes for anything though or seems too contrived, he will be finished in the primary (or general...

Looks promising.
Seems they were pretty well received here last year, so they're doing another round.

If last year was the 40 years tour and they don't have a new album, are they promoting anything?

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

The media and DNC wants kamala, if no dark horses surfaces, I think that's who will be nominated. I don't see Biden getting anywhere. Maybe 2016 that would have worked due to security/fear factor, but he is not inspiring anyone, and I think the working class midwest on the fence would stick with tru...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

So far all the candidates are running as if it's 1992. :noclue: I predict the candidate with the least number of apology tours will win the nomination and loose to Trump, and a 'radical' outside figure not groomed by the Dem party with A+ persuasion skills could beat trump if allowed into the nomina...

Other leaders in the Democratic-controlled House said they were drafting a funding offer they will likely make to Trump in a letter. Representative James Clyburn, the No. 3 House Democrat, said Democrats could fulfill Trump’s request for $5.7 billion for border security with technological tools suc...

Re: Donald Trump running for President.

In three weeks Trump will get approximately 5.7 billion dollars for a border "wall" and the media is saying he backed down and lost.....?

The media is nuts.
