Re: Alt Press Article on tour/new music
I saw Janes at the Honda center in Anaheim, and I was impressed. Sure, Troy was lacking some skill on the songs, but I still thought the vibe was much better. I think Dave is using again and not interested at all. My buddy said the reason why Perry and Eric are getting on so great is because Dave is...

Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
Honestly, I was blown away when I saw them in Anaheim. Yes, the Three days solo was lacking, as well as some of the other songs, but I like what Troy did and made me appreciate him more a guitarist. Jane Says, which I am so burnt out on, had a renewed energy. Perry sang the song different, and I lov...

Re: Strays early version?
I got into Jane's when NS came out. I was in 7th grade and my friend had a shitty cassette by them. I really didn't get completely into them until about 1990. The first Lolla was amazing and the Palladium shows were insane and scary on how good they were. Janes and P4P got through college and had a ...

Re: Ministry
Honestly, the metal thing is not my cup of tea, but I thought Psalm 69 was a great record and tour. If he did Land of Rape and Honey, Mind than I am there. Do some of the Twitch songs again, but that would require Barker back in the fold, and that is not happening.

Re: U2
I have always liked U2. JT is a solid album, among the B-sides. Pop mart had some of the best U2 songs during that period. I was taking about shows with my cousin, and he actually saw U2 at the Roxy in 1980. That would of been cool.

I am going to say that John Frusciante is one of the best and interesting artists ever. I was just looking at his homepage and band camp page, and there is some new free music on there. He just released instrumental versions of the hip hop project he produced and played on called The Black Knights w...

Re: Looking for the "Three days film" book
I bought one when "Three Days" was released. Pretty good journal of behind the scenes, what cameras they where using, etc.. At the end of the journal, you can tell how the personalities have changed for everybody involved. There was hard-core debauchery and drugs going on, as we all know, and the fi...

I was at this show as well. I thought The Cult were really on and amazing. One of the best Cult shows i have been at in a long time. I an and Billy were both really on, and Ian, for the most part, sounded pretty good. Garbage, i thought were really good and Shirley Manson is awesome and sexy as alwa...

BTW, you want good surfing, come further south here to Huntington Beach.[/quote]
I used to live in HB for about two years, and when i was going to Cal State LB that was my spot. Incredible waves. It can get really good. I used to surf "Taco Bell reef" a lot. Basically 9th street.

Re: Buh-Bye, Amoeba Records Hollywood?
Rent in LA is t crushing proportions. Abbot Kinney was named by Esquire the hottest/hippest street in the country and rents skyrocketed. It'll be interesting to see if they become prohibitive once their options expire....especially the fantastic eateries that have popped up in the last 5 years or s...

I used to see Polar bear in Los Angeles all the time from 1996 to 1999, and they were awesome. Maybe Eric isn't the best front man, but him and Biff were quite the duo. I actually was corresponding with Andy, their guitar player for a while. I think i was trying to get them to play Long Beach State ...

D.H. Peligro bio
I just finished D.H.Peligro's bio Dreadnaught: King of the Afropunk. If people don't know he was the drummer for the Dead Kennedy's and the Chili Peppers for a minute. Anyways the book has loads of stories about Jane's, The Chili Peppers and the L.A. Scenes and SF scene in particular. When he moved ...
