iirc Dave got himself back using during the course of that tour, so wouldn't have been a factor for Avery deciding not to join. Dunno about Perry. My money is on this being Jane's music. Remember how cut and paste Another Soulmate sounded? I bet they have all sorts of jams recorded for Perry to put lyrics to whenever he gets around to it. To me, U2's single "Vertigo" has always sounded like a weak imitation of (Strays era) Jane's. In fact, in my head, I can hear Perry singing it..

Personally, if I was going to copy (or "pay homage") to Jane's, that's probably not the era I'd look to, but there you go..
