Re: Chris Chaney Joins AC/DC

The impression I’ve always gotten about Chris is that he’s extremely low drama and very technically proficient. He is not a great songwriter however and has very little on stage charisma. So when you need a bass player that will show up and hit every note without fail, without bringing any bullshit...

The production just sounds off to me. Which is odd as I liked Andrew Watts production on the last Rolling Stones album.

That dude gets some good gigs. Good for him. He doesn't really look the ACDC part though lol.
Stand in the corner and plunk away, he fits in perfectly.

Chris Chaney Joins AC/DC

Chaney will be the bassist for AC/DC for at least their Summer European tour.

Re: The Dead Musicians thread

Heard about Geordie's passing last night, this one really hits hard. Since Killing Joke got back together in 2003, I made it a point to see them every time they played within driving distance right up to their last US headlining tour. They were one of those bands that I always had a sense every show...

It's an ELO kind of day... Part of the soundtrack of the childhood of those of a certain age. z9nkzaOPP6g ELO was my first big outdoor show (Anaheim Stadium) back in the summer of 1978. They were touring the Out Of The Blue album and they had a really massive stage production. The stage was a giant...

Fantastic history lesson…… thank you thank you. As I have gotten older, I realized how sane and stable Roth is in comparison to the VH bros….. he seems much more content and not embittered, super well-traveled, the EMT thing, he saved all his money… I had no idea Sammy wanted out in 96. I could und...

Re: Van Halen

OK, grab a beer or three and sit back....... In early 1996, Van Halen with Sammy Hagar had just gone through a really painful process of coming up with music for the Twister movie soundtrack. The writing was on the way for the past year or two that Hagar was not long for staying in the band. He and ...

Re: New Album Producer

Someone who can mic and record a great drum sound, hopefully.

Tony Visconti, Steve Albini or Butch Vig would be interesting. Youth might be in their ballpark. No ear bleeders like Brendan O'Brien or Tim Dalgety though. Brian Eno would be incredible even if the band's new material sucked.

I thought it was somewhat interesting that Dan (Eric's guitar tech, formally Daves) said that Daniel Ash is the worst person he has ever worked for. He said he is a prick and hates him with a passion. at 10:20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcGVHUl6kvk Doesn't surprise me. Old friend of mine who u...

I saw Guardians 3 a few days ago and I gotta say it does make me feel a lil old hearing songs we grew up with in these movies...they went HEAVY on the 90's stuff...Spacehog, Radiohead, Beastie Boys and even Faith No More We Care a Lot were prominently featured....no JA though Director James Gunn wa...

More dates added. In addition, I would not be surprised if they add a "secret" club show in SoCal a few days prior to the Cruel World Fest.

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread

Sounds like the Palladium show was every bit as epic as it should have been. I came real close to going, resale GA tickets fell to $70 plus they released a few GAs at face value a couple hours before showtime so it would have been no hassle getting in to this "sold out" show. I just couldn't do it w...

Re: Killing Joke

I paid the whole $12.50US and watched the live stream. Show was in a very small, intimate club. Well worth it, excellent audio and very nicely filmed. I assume this was a dress rehearsal for the video crew who will be filming the Royal Albert Hall show on Sunday for a likely home video release. Only...

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread

I like the "new" version of Kettle Whistle. I always thought the post-1997 version's transition between the quieter parts and the rawk parts was too jarring. True Love is clearly a work in progress. As it is, it's good but the lyrics and Perry's delivery needs work. I'd move it up as a main set clos...

I'm on the fence about doing the Hollywood Palladium show. GA resale tickets have stayed around $90 and I'd like to also see LA Witches. Like most shows, a game time decision.

Street Sweeper in 09 was okay… I guess it was cool Tom Morello was part of the tour. Live opened for them in 2001, and didn’t Courtney Love do a few dates that tour? '97 ENIT fest in San Francisco, they had Goldie who was stupidly loud and some knucklehead reading poetry. That knucklehead was Ken Kesey and he was awesome! He wrote One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Didn't you see his bus parked out in front of the venue? https://i.pinimg.com/736x/6d/03/e5/6d03e55...

One of the things that caught my attention with white zombie they had a woman in the band.
Sean Yseult later did the final tour with The Cramps in 2006 which was very cool. When I saw that tour, she was using that coffin shaped bass.
