Re: Politics

And taking office in Alberta as Premier-designate, Jason Kenney? Is this a pervasive shift in Canada? :banghead: Yes. Russian money has been funding anti-Trudeau sentiment for years on social media. There's a concerted effort of fascist-minded wealthy elites in foreign places to mess with the inter...

Re: New PF website

It's an artifact of using Wordpress. Something like 80% of the internet runs on it, but it's really got some dumb defaults and some way over-simplified features that make it annoying to get things customized in the right way. For one thing, it assumes that your site is a blog until you tell it other...

Whoever they're paying to make that website is using Wordpress, and seems to be kind of lazy. Re: New PF website

is it just me or was most of that placeholder text gibberish latin? honestly i would prefer that to most of perry's lyrics since good gods. Lorem ipsum is standard filler: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorem_ipsum There are programming shortcuts for just inserting it without typing/pasting it. But ...

Re: Weezer Covers Up the Beach

As Boutros Boutros-Ghali would say: "He's for the children."

I agree with you about his stupid voice. But I also don't like Prince's voice. I still think it's easy to recognize when someone has talent, even if you can't stand what they're doing with it.

Re: Weezer Covers Up the Beach

a cover?! I mean yeah that is great and all, but where is the original song he wrote ? Fuck 2019 and fuck everyone who thinks copies are ok, lying is ok, not saying sorry is ok, and floating on the past to make up for your lack of creativity. I miss people vulnerable with balls to make mistakes and...

Re: The Cure

Because sometimes it's just about the songs and an occasion, and how you feel. If you watch The Cure and spend the whole time thinking, rather than feeling, well.... The two aren't exclusive (in fact, I don't think there is a real distinction at all -- there is thinking *about* which is distinct fr...

Re: The Cure

I'm with Pearl tbh. That performance was really bad. Pearl's comment comes off like sour grapes given there are rumours around about the reasons for Porl "leaving" the band in 2009, and apparently it wasn't "creative differences", rather personal family strife caused by Porl's on tour behaviour. Ad...

Re: Democratic Presidential Campaign 2020

Many years ago I said that Obama would win the nom over Clinton, despite my preference for Clinton at the time, because Americans are racist, but way, way more misogynist. Turns out that's still true. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/03/25/how-misogyny-is-already-shaping-presidential-rac...

I gave Ricky Gervais’ ‘After Life’ a go last night and couldn’t go past the first episode. Everything was so lame and on-the-nose, it really was embarrassingly bad.

I highly recommend skipping it.
I liked it :noclue:

It wasn't great but worth watching.
It was excellent.

She's a better singer than Bono, and funnier.

Booo! Bring out Sha-Na-Na! Seriously though... what did you expect? Raising people from 50 years ago from the dead? That is about as good a lineup as I could imagine for the kind of show that this is supposed to be (grandparents take your kids to the thing you wish you'd gone to when it wasn't...

Yes, exactly. Taylor Swift's biggest hits are Max Martin songs.

Re: Weezer Covers Up the Beach

It's a good running song. I wouldn't choose it above things that are more in my normal wheelhouse, but I also think it's fair game to judge pop music by a different set of standards. Was the song written by Max Martin? If no, then: is it catchy? Does it display some understanding of melody, rhythm, ...

Re: Weezer Covers Up the Beach

Funny... I didn't think there was any "rawk" anymore. That was a 2000s thing -- the death of rock. Most radio now is either some kind of indie (formerly alternative stations have mostly converted), or rap or just straight pop/electronic stuff. or you can just listen Post Malone... You are not livin...
