Re: Habitat for Humanity - Blue Sky Build

Mongolians are not very good at towns and Olgii was no exception. The capital of an aimag or province the size of Holland, it felt like an abandoned outpost at world's end. It had an apocalyptic air, as if only a recent catastrophe could possible explain such bleakness. Mongolia's few towns are adm...

I wouldn't even call these last dates a leg.... Boise and Reno and maybe Portland and sort of, not really, San Francisco....... If those are their dates in the west, that's more like a protrusion, certainly not a leg....... :balls: :noclue:

Re: NFL

The crazy right wing, white supremacist groups and the lack of anything urban whatsoever in Idaho is what will be such a shock coming from LA. I mean LA has issues with race, but Idaho's issues are a whole other animal and quite likely more shocking and disturbing than LA's issues...... I know drivi...

Re: NFL

Idaho is about as different from LA as you can get..........at least if you are talking USA.

It would be curious if you moved to Idaho cold turkey, have you spent much time up there?

You just seem like "Mr. LA" to me....... :noclue:

Re: What's annoying you today?

i hate "nice" restaurants. Absolutely......... You are very lucky that you only got fleeced for $26. Living in restaurant rich/tourist cities can be a major hazard. You can wind up in a place and pay $100 a plate and be hungry afterwards and wish you had eaten a couple slices of pizza for $5 instea...

Re: The PhD Now Comes With Food Stamps (article)

I think the arguments regarding the value, pro and con, of a college/university education are fascinating. Each argument coming from a completely different motive and background, or life experience. Personally, I can empathize with components of each perspective and depending on my mood can say it a...

Re: What's annoying you today?

Ebay is becoming more and more of a pain in the ass to sell stuff on. Now they require a credit card from the seller (aka: me) to "back up" their "buyer protection plan." Between the eBay and Paypal fees, it's almost a 20% ding off whatever the sell price is of an item. Not to mention for certain s...

Also, I have come pretty close to achieving my goal of raising $1000 for Habitat Mongolia. Thanks in no small part to the efforts of people here! There is about a week left b...
