Re: the most jane's addiction non-jane's addiction song

My swim coach used to have this on a mix he'd playing during practices. Kind of like a bastard cousin of "obvious" or something. He even does the Perry "go!" thing in it

Re: Perry the Bass Player -- Words from Mike Watt

(my emphasis). I do wonder how likely it is that "wrote" meant "hummed a vague melody that Martyn used as a jumping off point to craft a bassline" as opposed to "worked out what the notes were, wrote that down with indication of timing and emphasis, and gave it to Martyn"???? I am almost certain it...

Dobel Marketing Meeting, New York City, 2015 Executive: "Gentlemen, we need completely generic "rock and roll" music to use in our newest commercial. Re: New JA in Dobel ad?

On my way home from work, I was listening to the rock station here in philly. They play about 60% do the dew buttrock, and 40% tolerable to good stuff. This is a song by a newer band they played today: HggvsHLbheQ Pretty shitty, right?. So when I get home I was telling my brother (who also posts her...

When Jimmy Chamberlin almost filled in for perk (lolla 2009)

http://youtu.be/jnv_P2mFWs0 Almost wish this had happened just to see what it sounded/looked like. Chamberlin is a monster and certainly would've injected some of his personality into the tunes. Also would've been the the first time someone else filled in for a position other than the bass slot. I w...

Re: Ritual Performance

Pretty much any time before 2010, this would have generated huge buzz. I have seen this talked about on exactly ZERO music sites. An unfortunate example that it is entirely possible to smear diarrhea all over your name and by extension your legacy.

Pretty cool how he gives perry props for the mtv thing. He's pretty fair. He'll call perry out on lame bullshit and give credit where credit is due.

Depressing but true when he refers to jane's legacy as "diminishing".

Re: New Dave Jerden Interview - Talks Jane's

On the subject of Panic Channel, this song is so utterly confusing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QG0y_dObBqw

It sounds like THE MOST generic early aughts VH1 top twenty tune "modern rock" tune... but with a shoegazy vaguely cure-y guitar line. Too weird.

Re: New Dave Jerden Interview - Talks Jane's

Could the old guys be entitled to writing credits? I think Dave and Stephen were THE guys and obviously made essential creative contribution, but I wonder how much they were just playing parts that had already been written (at least when they first joined).

Re: Does everyone remember the exact moment when...

I spoke to Perry after the Wolves Civic Hall show in November 2003. I was very drunk and told him to not stop what he was doing (As in making music, nothing sexual) Which I'm glad in a way because Janes 1.0 came back, albeit very briefly. But even back then it was obvious he was obsessed with the a...

Re: Does everyone remember the exact moment when...

My "awareness" of janes started around jubilee. Even with that limited exposure, it didn't take long to figure out that what they were doing then was kind of "off" compared to the og run and 97. The final nail was really the Eric reunion not panning out. That was an opportunity to correct the misfir...

I'm fairly certain ritual is longer than NS even though its 9 tracks. They'll have to tailor the setlist accordingly. Here's my prediction: Stop! As would I.

In a weird way, I can see no downside to Eric contracting on for one gig of a ritual performance. He could only add value at this point. Nobody would have any illusions about it leading to anything more.

Someone had a hilarious take on choosing your favorite Beatle over at another forum that I frequent. It was something along the lines of: pretentious people pick George, ignorant people pick John, and sociopaths pick Ringo

Mods, please move the 9/11 conspiracy posts to the other forum. I need this thread to stay on topic so I can find updates on Perry's secret project (that he already discussed in detail last year).

Jane's played the electric factory in Philly last night. I had no interest in going. Instead, I went to Faith No More the night before. It was a great show and I love the new album. As I left the concert, I saw Jane's on the marquee and thought "if only the Jane's reunion in '08 had followed the sam...
