Re: Lyrics and liner notes for TGEA (scans)

These lyrics are so much better than Strays it's not even funny. Underground alone gives it that distinction. Strays had no message. It was Perry newly married, newly a dedicated father, a few years sober with nothing to talk about. At least on this album he's painting pictures of "broken people" a...

Re: Estimated first week sales for The Great Escape Artist

The fellas should come out with a tour CD. Something pretty sweet...not in a jewel case. Something you want to put on your mantle. Sell it relatively cheap to encourage buyers. These things are usually EP length. This is where those instrumental tracks should go. Dave solo record?* Who was paying f...

Re: Estimated first week sales for The Great Escape Artist

i really think downloads should be free. if people like yr shit they'll buy a deluxe CD or vinyl or shirt or go to a show. it's like a sample, where you win some goodwill. I really don't think that's the case any more. It's pretty much a fact that the average consumer is more than willing to sacrif...

i'm guessing around 25k can anyone make a good argument to me that streaming the record before it comes out helps sales? i just don't understand bands doing this. Yeah, I'm not convinced streaming an entire new album ahead of it's release date is a smart move. That was originally the purpose of a s...

hell even indy labels can put out sales over that and thats to a younger community who likes to dl/stream...i bet they do over 20 I've been surprised at how some fairly major bands who used to pull in million plus sales per album back in the 90's and are still decent draws live barely crack 5K - 10...

dave's bad place and freaky new tattoos and crying during recording were cause of pot and beer? No, Dave was definitely using again. But isn't Perry clean these days? I love old Stones (Exile, Sticky Fingers, Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, etc)...but Mick Jagger doesn't even come close to Jim Morrison. "The Lizard King" started shirtless rock. He wore leather pants (everywhere). His performances incited riots. He (allegedly) exposed himself on stage. He go...

A friend of mine who I haven't talked to in ages wrote on my Facebook wall today and asked me "What do you think of the new Jane's album?". I liked some of what the Stones Roses put out, and would probably see them if they played LA under the right circumstances. Someone on another board said the "Second Coming" album is basically just an overproduced stroll through The Cult's "Electric" album without the furry hat. This is pretty funny...

Axl Rose Regardless of what he's turned into, the guy wailed more than Perry, was more active onstage than Perry, and played (and still plays) shows that are twice as long. Axl was pretty impressive the first few GnR shows I saw through the early phase of the AFD tour, but I always got the impressi...

I really didn't expect much from either band's latest albums. I was mildly surprised initially when I heard Jane's new one but I was very pleased with the new RHCP album and it's actually grown quite a bit since I picked it up. A few of the new RHCP tunes are some of the best stuff I've heard from t...

Umm, Perry back in the day was the greatest frontman of all time. Agree with everything else you say. I've got a friend who swears David Lee Roth is the greatest frontman of all time. I disagree with her, but I'm basing that on my musical taste and cultural points of reference. Perry is pretty pola...
