Personally, I haven't seen Eric with the band since 1990, so if they play near me, I shall go. And globally I'm pretty glad that the line up changes a bit. To me, Dave's relapse is definitely an option (and should he or not, I don't have any opinion on that).

Most probably they will release two digital overproduced EPs. Layers of guitars and effects will probably try to hide poor songwriting and cheap lyrics in the two bands, considering the two last decades didn't showed an album worth of creativity left in tank for anyone there.
