Re: RHCP

Even though there's some flubs, still a very awesome performance with Josh's guitar way up front in this clip:

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

am i the only one that has no problem with 10 songs? maybe we will get b sides on future singles. I'm not crying if the album's 10 songs x 40 minutes as long as the majority of them are at least pretty good. But I think b-sides and physical singles are a thing of the past with just a handful of ban...

Janes + Chili Peppers 2012 North America arena tour. Place your bets. I sure hope so. That would be a perfect double bill. nope...that would mean another amphitheater tour. i will take them separate. I have little doubt Janes is going to do a big arena/shed tour with another big band in 2012. The t...

Re: Billboard Listening Party: New Album/Tour Details

I don't understand how people can say that "Irresistible Force" sounds like U2. That would imply that it is good. :hehe: Actually, there's more than a few pretty awful U2 songs, especially from this decade. IMO, IF sounds like 2nd rate U2. Laboured and over produced, Big, grand sweeping chorus, den...

Re: Billboard Listening Party: New Album/Tour Details

A few observations..... It's either lazy journalism or plain ol' ignorance to say "End To The Lies" (and "Ultimate Reason" I'm sure) is anything close to the "standard Jane's Addiction sound" even through Strays. ETTL regardless of how good it is or isn't, clearly broke new sonic ground for the band...

Re: Been listening to old Jane's again/changing perspective

I've been listening to the stuff off the CoC box set recently as well as a few of the better silver bootlegs I have and surprisingly, the 3 Rock Band MOGG tracks that I deconstructed and made remixed versions without vox, more prominent bass, guitar tracks fucked with, etc. I haven't touched the act...

Re: 10 years older than Perry...

I've seen a ton of Springsteen shows dating back to '81 and a few Iggy Pop shows since '87 and am a big fan of both and I have to honestly say Springsteen blows away Iggy in every aspect. Iggy may be (but not as much any more) a complete spastic onstage at times but his shows usually run maybe 90 mi...

Re: 2012 U.S. Presidential Polls Thread

There's no way Obama's going to lose to any of the current crop of challengers for a second term. That says more about who he's up against in 2012 versus what little he's accomplished through his first term.

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

Wait, so the artistic direction of this album relies solely on Perry, who has just now set aside some time to be artistic? This is going to suck. It's going to be rushed and half-assed. My guess is Capitol Records rejected the Fusilli Perry album cover that his kids put together one evening on the ...

Neat little pop tune. Although probably due to my pervy little brain, it sounds like the focus of the tune is vag, masturbation and that time of the month.

BTW, no one tops Kate Bush. No one.

Jane's is playing House of Blues on 10/21 in Atlantic City NJ..Tix are on sale now. Got mine. I bet it will be the same set unforunately. The album will be out by then and I guarantee you they'll be playing at least 3 songs off it, probably ETTL, IF and one other. Add to that "Just Because" and may...

Re: Irresistible Force

Is this a bad thing? I've always considered Moby a composer, just as much as a popular music artist. The majority of "Everything Is Wrong" is fantastic; the fact that the music on it may have been tailor made for films means nothing (negative) to me. I have to agree both albums are classics, no que...

Re: Irresistible Force

Is Jane's going to do a Moby and write songs specifically designed to fit in certain types of movies, tv shows and commercials and license the entire album's worth of tunes out before it's even released? At that point, you're not doing a record with any artistic merit, you're doing a bunch of jingl...

i would have a lot more respect for him if he tried and failed but he is not trying anything. He got Bin Laden, that's gotta count for something. And looking back, he was the *only* choice in '08 when you consider the opposition. But yeah, he's proven to be barely one step up from Jimmy Carter and ...

I saw Ministry on their "farewell" tour and it was pretty lousy. CU LaTour was horrible. I couldn't believe it when Al had that other guy come out for the encore and do his vocals for him...and of course the encore is where they stuck the few hits they played that night. Yeah, that's the tour ...

It amazes me when people on this board cut up the likes of Pearl Jam, RHCP, and NIN for not carrying out the exact career moves they would have liked to have seen them do. To me, these groups (though maybe not "perfect" like they once were) are light years ahead of bands like Ministry and Jane's Ad...
