Re: ERIC AVERY WANTED TO ‘CASH IN’ ON REUNION

I took it from here for my site, and tossed in Eric's quotes. Sites usually pick up on some stories after I post them, sad they didn't put in the Eric quotes that show Perry is full of shit.

Re: Perry Farrell enjoys life as musical troubadour

http://grungereport.net/?p=13368 I posted on this on my site and pointed out Perry's hypocrisy, or at least gave the other side of the story.

Re: doheny day's festival

Just bought a ticket for this after being on the fence. I saw Jane's in May 2009 on the NINJA tour in Irvine, that's the only other time I've seen them. I skipped the John Anson Ford Theater shows last year because I was still pissed off over the Avery thing. I looked at my concert schedule though a...

Re: Download TGEA for free

STP will definitely get in the Hall of Fame. They'll likely make it years after their contemporaries though like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Tool, Rage Against The Machine, and The Smashing Pumpkins, but they will make it. A ridiculous amount of their songs are not only still p...

Re: Download TGEA for free

Count me in on the Ritual is my favorite JA album club. Then She Did is one of the most epic heart wrenching songs of all time. I liked TGEA a lot more when it came out due to the excitement of getting a new JA album and it not being a bunch of I Like Em Big/Nasty Little Perv type songs. I just list...

Re: Duff enjoying the Mountain Song riff?

Again to the people who said Scott ripped off Eddie, I give you the Wicked Garden demo, recorded in 1990 before Pearl Jam ever existed. To me Wicked Garden is the quintessential example of the Core sound. They had obviously formulated this sound before PJ/the Grunge explosion. Scott Weiland and Rob...

Re: do new good bands exist?

Not really. There's barely anybody out there who write GREAT songs with emotional honesty. You've either got bands that are too commercial or bands that are too hipster to write big/great songs. It's basically a massive sea of mediocrity right now.

Re: Van Halen

I'm not trying to be a dick here...this is honest curiosity. What makes Van Halen any different than the NUMEROUS cock rock bands that cropped up after them in the 80s? Outside of Eddie Van Halen being a guitar aficionado*, I don't hear much of a difference. :noclue: To me, they have more in common...

Re: . . . a kinder, gentler Perry Farrell

IF peaked number 9 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, number 16 on the Billboard Rock Songs chart, and number 22 on Mainstream Rock. It got some play but wasn't a hit like Just Because, which was a #1 hit. Underground didn't even make a dent, it's the best song on TGEA but TGEA has no hits. I...

Re: Dave's Influence on Your Guitar Playing?

I'm more of a singer but I play some guitar as well. My biggest influences tend to be Dave, Kim Thayil, and Billy Corgan when it comes to the riffs I come up with. Dave's "ballad" sound (think Then She Did) in particular.

Re: Van Halen

I saw them in Anaheim the other night. Fun show, Wolfgang is great his vocals are solid now. Eddie and Alex were great as well. Dave was hit and miss, especially on new songs. Nailed The Trouble With Never but butchered China Town. He nailed most of the big hits.

Re: The Smashing Pumpkins

Oceania is solid, best Pumpkins album since Adore to me. Love Quasar, Pantopticon, Pinwheels, The Chimera, Pale Horse, and My Love Is Winter. The big thing is that Billy's vocals actually sound clean, not overproduced or straining like on Zeitgeist.

Perry is right about Capitol being morons for not releasing Superhero as a single. Like it or not, that song is a hit.
