Re: The last time you saw Jane's live

2003-10-04. My goodness. It has been 15 years and I still visit this site from time to time...... The show was enjoyable Since then I saw a Banyan show in Amsterdam and a musically ok-ish satelite party (ft Nuno) show. Also in Amsterdam. The last gig became utterly cringeworthy because of the incre...

Re: The last time you saw Jane's live

This is interesting and I am glad you saw this. I was really excited to see our LA NINJA. I took my 13 year old son. It felt like a stupid musical circle of life thing for me  . Frankly, I don't know if they were good that night (bt 2.0 standards), but I do know EA didn't want to be there. He ...

Re: The last time you saw Jane's live

Camden NJ 2009. First AND last time. I have no interest in ever seeing them again unless Eric comes back for some reason. One of my favorite shows ever. Such a special night. I had never been so excited for a concert and I think it ended up being one of the better NINJA shows. Perry didn't look like...

L.A. Song Credits

Liner notes for the deconstruction album have B. Carmen and B. Spickard listed as co-writers on this song. Any idea who they are? Is more like they’re being credited for the stuff that’s sampled on the song?

Actually, this is interesting! Brian Bell of Weezer is onstage there. Before joining Weezer, he played bass in a band called Carnival Art. The singer/guitar player in that band was Ed Dobrydnio. DN replaced him in Jane's Addiction and the rest is history

Re: Embrace the Darkness

Does Embrace the Darkness even exist as a recording to the extent that there would be something to release? Given that they abandoned it, there might not be anything fully formed on tape? I'm sure Eric probably addressed this with Sonny, but I can't face listening to 14 hours of him moaning about P...

Embrace the Darkness

It’s been nearly a decade since this song was recorded, and it has yet to leak (everything does eventually). This place has been dead lately so let’s needlessly speculate about how we could finally hear this thing. Maybe an “insider” who lurks here would say fuck it and let it loose. Maybe, since th...

It will be coming out 5 or 6 years after Perry started talking about it.

I wish Jane’s had stopped after soundwave 2010.

Re: What the hell is this? Never seen or heard before today.

Wow, it's been 8 years since I put that "album" together. I need to get around to fixing the dead links on the site. I didn't make that video, but whoever did, did a nice job. This was really nice to have in the immediate aftermath of Eric's departure. Kids in the Street is great. Didn't Dave even ...

Re: NME Awards - Ten Years On

Chris, time flies. We should have known they'd completely fuck up their 2nd chance. I think we all knew deep down that it would flame out, but it was so mindblowing that it was happening that it was easy to get swept up in optimism. It's funny that between 2008 and 2012, a lot of their contemporari...

Satellite Party was goofy, but at least the songs had some texture and atmosphere. And you get some flashes of post relapse, pre-SYTBS Perry here and there oddly enough. Overall, it does sound more connected to what Perry was doing before Strays, and that is a good thing in my eyes. I'm not saying i...

NME Awards - Ten Years On

It was just around this time ten years ago that NME announced they were giving Jane's that godlike genius award. It didn't seem like that big of a deal initially and I certainly didn't think any member was going to show up, let alone the original lineup. I was shocked when Dave announced a few days ...

Always wondered how Perry felt when Pete played with Eric in the project and also with Peter Murphy.

Re: Pearl Jam w/Perry do Mountain Song at Lolla Brasil 2018

The thing with the pitch is that Perry may well be able to deliver it for a one song guest slot at someone else's gig (and sound good doing it) - different matter trying to deliver a 10-12 song set, let alone doing it night after night. I know there's things he should have done in the past to look ...

Re: Pearl Jam w/Perry do Mountain Song at Lolla Brasil 2018

Every time Perry sits in with a band to do a Jane's tune like Mountain, it's usually in the original key. And EVERY TIME, he sounds decent and certainly better than when he does them with JA. Perry was meant to sing Jane's songs in standard tuning, end of story. It really brings out the essence of t...

The lineup is bad, but part of the problem is that there are just too many fucking festivals now. None of the bands on this bill are a surprise because once lineups start being announced early in the year for some festivals, you can deduce that they're probably gonna headline several other festival...

I bet Dave and Stephen refused to let Perry involve Jane's and I'm glad. Yes, the name is tarnished badly already. But this would have been an absolute disgrace.
