Re: Sky Diving

For someone with a fear of heights...you got some balls of steel. I bet the best feeling for a first timer is when he pulls the ripcord, and the chute opens the way its supposed to. By the time the chute opens, you're lost in the moment of the free fall. Terminal velocity of 120 and you descend 500...

Re: Sky Diving

Odd feeling at t minus 4 hours. I am vacillating between a reality disconnect and gruesome fear of the worst potential outcomes. I am also experiencing some fairly severe guilt as a father taking unnecessary risks. Knowing statistics don't apply to future per se events doesn't help much. It will be ...

Re: Pedo Sandusky Guilty

Still refreshing, especially in a case such as this. I suspect that if an agenda exists, these statements are the capstones of his stategy since taking the case. It provided international press, and he is known for it. Now he's distanced himself from pedusky and a celeb attorney. I doubt he's fallin...

He also said he would have had a heart attack if he'd been aquitted. I found it refreshing that a defense attorney didn't haphazardly persist on his clients innocence or engage in some other fallacious reasoning to spin the truth.

Re: bagel water

I'm not looking down on any one who enjoys what is considered good wine or people who spend a great deal on what they consider to be good wine, etc...but I work with a guy who will literally spend ten thousand dollars on a bottle of wine...I may be speaking in a biased way because I don't particula...

Re: bagel water

I am not a wine snob at all. People should do what they please......having said that, I do believe that the better understanding people have of wine, the more they would enjoy it. I wrote a national curriculum for an AA degree with a colleauge from Atlanta, and even one class from that (the intro cl...

Re: bagel water

Isn't it just personal and acquired taste? I think with wine, it depends on your palette. By default, I like hot/spicy food, so my taste is geared more to the stronger spicier red. I like 1. Rioja 2. Carmenere 3. Shiraz/Malbec 4. Pinot Noir I don't like 1. Merlot 2. Cabernet Sauvignon I can put up ...

Re: bagel water

There is so much to discuss there, but at the most remedial level I will say that it is fairly easy with a minimal amount of training to determine old world wines from new world wines based simply on the wine's bouquet (what the article refers to as the totality of the wine, when tasting "everything...
