Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
LOL, rude surprise doing the presale this morning. All the best seats in the center of the arena in the first section off the floor are VIP package seats going for $500+ each. "VIP package"? What does it include? I'm not into special VIP merchandise, etc...but it would be cool if it included a meet...

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
Wow, Streets was really something else. Is it the first time something like this has happened with U2? Like, a member being actually replaced, even if for just one benefit gig? Adam Clayton was replaced by the bass tech for a show in Australia in '93 when he was too trashed to make the show. Has fo...

Yup...one site's headline was like "Hell Freezes Over: Billy Corgan recruits male bass player".Pandemonium wrote:Is this the first time Billy's had a male bass player in SP?
Seriously though, I don't see why it matters either way.

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
I don't care what the naysayers say about this new album...it's a good album. It's dark like the "POP" album, which may make it less appealing to some people. Sure, it's not on the level of "The Joshua Tree" or "Achtung Baby", but I think that's asking too much. The song "Iris (Hold Me Close)" is am...

Re: Rock n Roll hall of Fame 2015 nominees
Trevor...you're talking out of your fucking ass. Seriously...while Trent was still a "pup", he was collaborating with the likes of 1,000 Homo DJs and Pigface...basically working with individuals who are (and arguably were at that time) considered industrial rock royalty. And there's no way you can a...

Re: Rock n Roll hall of Fame 2015 nominees
I get what people are "criticizing" about Trent...but c'mon, he's a PERFORMER...an ARTIST. Some people like musicians who have a persona or schtick, some don't. That being said, are you guys gonna slag Bowie for Ziggy Stardust and the like? I'm pretty sure Trent's "darkness" is genuine. It just com...

Re: Ottawa shooting.
I just moved back to Ottawa in August... I have to say, I'm very angry. My anger is not directed at the gunman, per se (it appears that he was a mentally ill, homeless person). The attitudes I have heard from people, the media spinning propaganda, and how this will help "The Harper Government"'s nar...

The new single "Being Beige" from the album Monuments To An Elegy, due out December 9th: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/premieres/smashing-pumpkins-being-beige-20141020 If you like latter era Pumpkins, you'll probably like this. And if you wish it was still 1993, you'll probably hate this.

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
ANR never ceases to amaze me. You guys complain whenever it's convenient for you. Suddenly album sales are relevant here? As for the quality of the album...it's not their worst album...but certainly nowhere near their best either (those days are LONG gone and are never coming back). As I alluded to ...

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
I wasn't a fan of "Discothèque"...but the Pop album is a lot better in hindsight than people initially gave it/them credit for. It had some solid gems; it's a pretty dark record.

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
I never got into "Big Girls Are Best".
This has got to be one of the greatest songs that U2 ever wrote/recorded and most people don't even know it exists. They late "reworked" (and arguably ruined) it and released it on their Wide Wake In Europe EP.

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
Yeah, but even their worst albums have at least 2-3 really good songs. I think every "Every Breaking Wave", "Iris (Hold Me Close)", and "Song For Someone". Any of these could have been on All That You Can't Leave Behind. While I don't hold ATYCLB in the highest esteem, it's still a pretty good albu...

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
Maybe it's me, but the bass/drum intro to "Volcano" sounds like a ripoff of The Misfits' London Dungeon. Maybe the same tempo, but not the same bass melody. I certainly don't argue that U2 is in a rut...let's face it, they have been for 20 years now. But I do think they occasionally manage to pull ...

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
I just feel it totally lacks those magical moments U2 usually has to offer. Like the beginning of 'A Sort of Homecoming', or that fade in for 'I Still Haven't Found...' or the chorus of 'City of Blinding Lights'. I don't know, I feel this new album is absolutely disconnected from what they did befo...

Re: U2:New album Songs of Innocence for free on iTunes
Pretty much every U2 album that has ever come out has been polarizing among critics and listeners. It's pretty good. Is it the next Achtung Baby? Of course not...nor would I expect it to be; the band has been releasing albums for 34 years now. I think it's an interesting excursion before they releas...
