Re: Sorta complimentary, definitely funny review of Ritual s

the b side would be the only reason i would see this show. :noclue: you can say that again. why else? describing a band that plays to the festival masses, the reviewer did a nice job capturing how and why JA remains an entertaining 'they fucking rock' band. satisfying for the remaining few who get ...

Re: P4P on Dime

that's super cool. we talk a lot about JA 1.0. there's also perry 1.0 and he was at that soundcheck. which explains why, circling back to the earlier part of this thread, two forum legends, hoka and blackula, plus old tubro man river each got lifted off our feet in the madness of the p4p floor. thos...

Re: Ritual Performance

for sure then she did has been a rarity over the years after 1.0 and relapse. (i thought it was the high point of the relapse tour, and probably perry's best song, but i digress.)
but a show where not one of the three long songs are played? i don't recall that ever happening.

Re: Ritual Performance

As someone said weekly on the Sopranos, they got some set of balls on them. Is it not just a comedy bit that they're doing a ritual tour and not playing ritual. And while it might make some sense that a shorter festival set is different, they could have routed this tour differently or made it clear ...

Re: Classic Girl in Fear the Walking Dead

maybe. and maybe not. good list. all worthy. I'd say most of them are clearly higher on the list than the ramones. sort of makes my point though. Beatles yup Rolling Stones yup Black Sabbath close call Led Zeppelin yup Nirvana nah (important, sure. better? not a shot.) Velvet Underground yup The Met...

Re: Classic Girl in Fear the Walking Dead

another one like my earlier point about ray davies. name 10 bands better and/or more important than the ramones. can't, can ya? or if you can (I guess 10 may not be the exact right number, but you get the point) it would take a while. because they're the ramones. and they also never made a fucking d...

Re: Classic Girl in Fear the Walking Dead

i know I'm beating a dead horse but here's the deal - if you create art you're allowed to make a living off of it. if they used it in a Donald trump or an anti abortion ad, judge away. but tv isn't all shit, and while I don't watch walking dead but it seems people speak highly of it. I liked seeing ...

P4P on Dime

Irving Plaza 1996. If you were there, and I know some of you were, then you know just what a magical one hour (or less) this was. Fucking mad ass singalong get kicked in the head stomp of greatness. sounds light and acoustic 20 years later but whoa, at the time, it was anything but. there have been ...

Re: Perry and Dave Ritual Track by Track Commentary

This made me look forward to when the RDLH show comes thru my little town, particularly to hear then she did and no one's leaving, both of which have a nyc thing to them. there's enough in the world to bash perry about, as evidenced by what goes on around here. this interview isn't that though. it's...

Re: Bono don't know Perry

does anyone know for sure that perry does or does not use any pre-recorded music in the present JA? dude has a rig there which has alway been to process his voice etc. but he's also all into being a dj and those guys use pre-recorded sounds. i don't know one way or the other and i've never given it ...

Re: Bono don't know Perry

saw U2 in chicago a few weeks back. that bono vox dude needs to work on his self image. he's so reserved and modest. the show, for my friends and me, was one long joke about bono (with a few about the edge and adam thrown in for good measure...the drummer, as far as i can tell, is a robot so he's no...

Re: jane's streaming live tonight

i've said here plenty of times - putting aside what we 50 or so fanboys and girls 'know' to be the 'true nature' of JA in 2015, and more seriously and objectively, despite the fact that obviously they wrote all their songs a long long time ago and don't, by any fair standard, work hard at their craf...

Re: Ritual Performance

you're flying out for this festival, or just going if/when it comes to a theater near you? if the former, you'd best confirm that the advertisement is accurate. i have a feeling it's a misprint. if not, it's about the lamest roll out for a theme tour as can be imagined. the NS leadup was impressive ...

Re: Ritual Performance

Paradiso Amsterdam 1991 was among the best shows I've ever seen. It was everything that rock and roll and punk rock and performance can be. Of course with Morgan is indelibly etched in my mind forever. To create that sort of tribal stomp in the midst of an hour of primal explosiveness is something t...

i saw them many times over the years, from when they first broke. they were great on lolla 1 and woodstock 94 and also later in the year in 94 at madison square garden. transcendent really. i liked with teeth at hammerstein although it was clear to me that the roid rage trent wasn't nearly the figur...

portchester will do okay. it's a terrific theater in a cool little town, and shows sell well there. did any of the new yorkers here happen to go up to that very theater for porno 4 pyros in 96 or so? the capitol had some legendary shows in the 60s thru the 80s and was then broken down and only occas...

comment of the year. i've still enjoyed the past few NIN shows i've seen but i couldn't really put words to what i thought was sort of bullshit about it. the reason is that the answer is visual. every damn NIN show looks like this now... http://media.giphy.com/media/pbpc4QdNOweze/giphy.gif 'i'm tire...

Well, this will be the first ny-area show i purposely skip since 09 (well besides that times square show). Please relate any insights or comments they might have on JA.
