Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread
I just think it’s ridiculous that we’re at 33 years and counting for the four of them to get their shit together for a proper followup to Ritual. That’s longer than Jim Morrison or Kurt Cobain were on this planet.

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread
After “Three Days”, “Then She Did…”, and “Classic Girl”…”Obvious” was always my favourite track on Ritual.

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread
I enjoyed listening to the RHCP albums that JK played on upon their release. But I haven’t really gone back to them. The minute Frusciante had left the band for a second time, I wanted Dave back with them. I would’ve been much happier with two followup albums to One Hot Minute than what we got with ...

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread
Some of this Navarro trash talk is off the deep end. Sure, I get it...I'm the first to say that the reunion albums were sub par at best and desperately lacking much of what made the original albums great (most notably Eric's absence, among other factors). But to say that Dave brought nothing interes...

Re: Navarro: What makes him great?
If Dave is out (which he appears to be, as far as I'm concerned), what's the point of not making an official announcement (from him or Jane's) that he has left the band? It seems like cruel and unusual punishment to the fans. I can't stand when a band goes on an indefinite "hiatus" and then after ma...

Re: History of Jane's opening acts
I'm so sorry. A very weird time for rock music. I'll never understand how Deftones gained traction...I think they're korny (sorry) as fuck; just awful.

Re: Navarro: What makes him great?
To be fair, I dont think Eric, Perry or Stephen have been much more prolific. Even Martyn doesn't seem to do that much? Chaney is the one most committed to music. And then, of their peers Fishbone are still really active and creative, as are RHCP. Bob Forrest doesn't seem to do anything but obvious...

Re: History of Jane's opening acts
I always thought Live opening for Jane’s was super weird. It would be like if Better Than Ezra opened Smashing Pumpkins or something. I saw the Flaming Lips open for Porno for Pyros in 1993 and they were amazing! I had little clue who they were at the time. Who would’ve thought they’d be headlong fe...

History of Jane's opening acts
So a couple of artists are opening for Jane's on this upcoming tour...L.A. Witch and Damnage. This got me thinking about artists who've opened for them in the past. Pixies opened for them on the Ritual tour. I think Goldie may have opened for them on the Relapse tour (I never saw that tour; it didn'...

Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
been caught stealing has a toss off vibe .. prolly if we only heard a live acoustic version it would sound even goofier .. love me some cook the rice .. price i pay doesn't do it for me .. hoping with martyn in the band we are gonna get some stooges funk goth punk style and not so much the acoustic...

Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
See, I’ll take Cook the Rice over Price I Pay. Price I Pay is a better song on paper, but Cook the Rice still feels more like early 90s Perry. He’s still just weird and singing about life instead of trying to write a hit rock song. It just feels more…authentic. I’m totally with you, as far as the p...

Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website
I think they knew it wasn’t album worthy. But I liked it just fine. It was in the vein of something like City. Perhaps it had hidden meaning about “cooking” but otherwise it was just an odd, simple little tune, which Perry used to do really well. Not everything needed to be Three Days. At least it ...

Re: Navarro: What makes him great?
If I’m going to be completely fair, I have to admit I like the track “Awake”. If Perry had sung on that, I would’ve loved it.

Re: Navarro: What makes him great?
https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/012/132/thatsthejoke.jpg My bad. I have a seven month old at home. Tired as fuck. Anyway, I’ve never understood why Perkins has been wasted on recordings for decades now. He was still a madman on the first Porno album. By the time Strays rolled out, ...

Re: Navarro: What makes him great?
What shame that their record label dictated so much of their aesthetic and mixing decisions, and that the guys had no power whatsoever to push back. Not even the energy emanating from panic circles could help them. I hold the band accountable, not the label. Dave and Perk were alt rock royalty by t...

Re: Navarro: What makes him great?
As far I’m concerned, there’s nothing “wrong” with the production or songwriting of that Panic Channel album. The issue is not the actual execution. The problem is what they were making was crud…but they were very good at it. It’s contrived late 90s “alternative” rock, in the vein of Our Lady Peace,...
