Re: GrungeReport.net interview with Perry coming soon
I wouldn't say Perry is braindead. Many of us on this board have done as many if not more drugs as Perry and we're happy, functional people. Of course, I'm not including myself in that example. I've always been an angel. Anyway, Perry has always boasted grandiose dreams and plans along with a fair ...

I've listened to it a few times and I like most of it. I'm not crazy about the single but overall I'm into it. Tickets on sale next week for the first round of shows.

mockbee where do you live? I've been trying to figure out what angle I'm seeing the bridge from but I'm lost. :kv: I'm at Clay and Hyde; Polk Gulch/Lower Nob Hill area. It's real nice, not too hipster and not to hoighty, accessible to pretty much anywhere in the city yet real low key. I like the in...

Re: Chicken of the trees
That does not look appetizing.
I ate guinea pig in Ecuador. It was fried and tasted like dark meat chicken. Nothing spectacular beyond the plating of the entire deep fried guinea pig on the plate.
Nowadays I'm limiting my meat intake overall other than seafood so I'd pass on the squirrel.

We're pretty good friends with the couple upstairs and have a shared garden in our yard and hang out, have dinner etc. Almost everyone on the street which is about 12 houses and 3 apartment buildings. I couldn't believe the headline when I read it. What a term to even utter? 'legitimate rape'? There is something very scary going on in the GOP.

I love their version of Dylan's 'Girl from the North Country'. There's a studio version I think but it doesn't compare to a bootleg I have and my memory of seeing that song live. I didn't realize they had a new record.

There's a vibe of authenticity that emanates from these guys that amazes me.....even after thousands of shows. I completely agree. You can tell that these guys are still loving what they do and loving doing it together. Flea was on fire at the Oakland show as well. He was talking to the crowd a lot...

Caught them last night in Oakland. Great show. Josh held his own but I do miss Froosh. Josh is not as aggressive a player as John and at times I really didn't like his tone. This was probably my 12th or 13th time seeing them since 1990 and they definitely still bring it live. A solid two hour set t...

Took a half day today and went to a rehearsal studio with my Mac and recorded some tracks and played the drums all afternoon. Not a bad way to start my weekend.

4. Hard news is dead. Long live soft news. And I blame the internet. :essence: the internet didn't do anything, it's still awesome. I think to a great extent the internet has absolutely made it easier to spread misinformation, but the underlying problem imo is the fact that most don't, can't or won...

Re: Lollapalooza 2012
I've been Coachella and I've been to Lolla. Lolla is a better festival hands down. Coachella is ripe with LA douchebags and people posing, armed Indio police officers in the festival and you can only drink a beer in the 'beer garden' or whatever. Lolla also does a better job with getting good local ...

Re: Jane's 7-27-91 lollapalooza DVD
Didn't Jane's Addiction peak around 89/90? I thought they all hated each other by the time they did Lolla. Trevor also used loads of recordings from Lolla for his greatest hits live compilation. So, didn't they perform better when they were still getting along? Also, aren't shows better in small ve...

So basically... seeing Jane's 1.0 would've been the best JA show you've ever seen.hokahey wrote:

Re: Jane's - 1.5 Hour Set Length/No Recording
My only real issue with the band these days is that Perry just doesn't sound good. It's not nitpicking to want the lead singer to sing the actual melody of the song he's performing. I like some stuff on Strays and a lot of TGEA. Perry's just not trying and the backing tracks are lame.
