Re: "Up the Beach" on "Flatliners" (remake) trailer

I love hearing Janes on tv and in trailers. Love it! However, what asshole decided to remake that movie! PLEASE for the love of god can Hollywood come up with new ideas. Stop making bad remakes. What's next, St Elmos Fire reboot! I agree, and then I see this, and think there's some b-movie promise ...

Re: Worst/Best Hit Songs to Represent a Band

Is this a weird question. Has anybody ever listened to/ watched a band for a period of time that they really don't like? And although you may still not like them, or the music, you've found the whole experience very interesting and worthwhile? Not so much a band, but there have been songs by bands ...

Writing my book about alpha junkie William S. Burroughs and his impact on the Cult of Rock 'n' Roll. This album is still legend, even if the band squandered theirs. Somehow it all works today. https://www.rocknrollburroughs.com Just checked out your link... I am definitely interested in read...

Re: Joanie Cunningham is dead

I watched Happy Days as a kid. Likely both when it was one weekly and after in syndication. I vaguely remember anticipating what this Joanie Loves Chachi thing might be. Did they own a restaurant, or a bar? I was young, but was struck that the show didn't seem grounded in the late 50s as Happy Days ...

I'm not even sure Perry came up with the name originally. I think he credits a manager in some past video.

The Gorillaz show is definitely improved. I saw them in Seattle during the Plastic Beach tour. Front row. A few feet from Mick Jones. Likely one of my favorite shows of all time.

Larry Steinbachek, founding member of Bronski Beat, 58. Probably not too many fans here, but I loved them in the 80s when I was in high school. http://www.musicvaultz.com/2017/01/16/rip-larry-steinbachek/?lf=acb7815d36ac2c83c796f143b50ff41b Another huge loss for the music community: Larry Steinbach...

Re: Thousands Of Shows And I Still Can't Hear You!

This is my most precious ticket stub. The art work on the ticket is by a company called Timorous Beasties out of Glasgow. On the on-sale date I was unsuccessful to get a ticket for any of the 22 dates. Actually, they had "hospitality tickets" for £425 that included a dinner before the show, glass o...

Bandit! Cool collection of shows. Definitely more of a British slice of pop culture. And to have seen Happy Mondays or Black Grape when you did. Wow. Also noticed Catatonia. I was in Cardiff when their x files song was on the radio. Would love a story about either Happy Mondays or Black Grape.

Panda, Phenomenal. Just phenomenal. I always enjoy your reviews so to see the scope of shows you've seen is impressive. I know a guy who is a poet and an academic now who was in a band called the Alcoholics. They were punk and in LA. Apparently, Social D played their first ever show opening for thes...

Don't totally disagree, but for me the first 3 were magic, thereafter magic tricks. I agree those first three albums are excellent. And to be clear, I'm not knocking the production on War, it has a very unique sound that suits that batch of songs. I have a soft spot for October, one song in particu...

Through my high school lens, Joshua Tree was the album that introduced U2 to everyone else, and suddenly short little ponytails were everywhere at my high school.

I'm still kicking myself for not seeing him/them when they visited Seattle a few months ago. I'm not a huge Garbage fan, but I know enough of their songs that I would have enjoyed it--especially to see Eric on stage. At the time, I don't think I could find evidence that he was touring with them.

Glitch (Australian Series) and Eric Avery (Doppelganger

I've enjoyed the first season of Glitch on Netflix. Not quite a zombie show, but very much in the vein of The Returned (original French show). All that aside, I can't help but think the main actor, Patrick Brammal looks like a younger Eric Avery. I think he could play Eric when we get the Jane's Add...

I enjoyed the first episode. Given how much exposition has to happen to orient the average view, I thought they did a good job. And the very last moment was perfectly executed. You know it can only get better from here. I never saw the original movie. I worked in a video store when I was 15, and it ...
