Love Cyndi. Where’s Etty? My guess is that Cyndi said ‘um, no thanks.’

Re: CASH fest

That’s pretty awful. I’ve got no gripe with rockstars showing up at these things, and Perry sang Jackson pretty well. But while i usually leave it for the rest of the tribe to slag Etty, holy shit, a song where she has to sing solo parts made famous by June Carter Cash is not a good choice for her. ...

My picks: Kraftwerk MC5 Roxy Music The Zombies The Cure I like these, but there is no requisite urban or cheese stadium rock massive appeal "Journey" slot. I'll predict: Def Leppard Janet Jackson The Cure Stevie Nicks Mc5 (outsider chance...Todd Rundgren) Ok, Radiohead, Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks ...

Re: Kind Heaven Orchestra's 12/2 show: Will it happen or not?

I was at that show, working with the production, watching from on stage, etc. those three pimlico virgin festivals were really well curated and a lot of great music went on there. (Iggy and the Stooges, Amy Winehouse, Wu Tang, dozens of others, etc. big bands but also really well chosen lineups. Ric...

Re: Kind Heaven Orchestra's 12/2 show: Will it happen or not?

It's annoying watching the way Perry pulls the mic from his face constantly like a trombonist Gotta share a moment about that from when PF was still the great Perry. For relapse at Hammerstein on halloween i was friends with the venue/promoter and got to watch from the opera box right off the floor...

NV5mZv2O3JQ Pleasant enough. Dropping for a moment whatever perry has done to alienate himself from his fan base, he’s an LA rock legend and got up there with a different legend and knew the words and seemed to put effort into the moment. So it was nice. His face doesn’t move. That’s Joan rivers cr...

Re: The last time you saw Jane's live

Interesting indeed because the last two times I saw them I went for the other band. Last time I saw them was Oct 12, 2014, free in Times Square NYC. Went for Devo. (They were unreal.) Stayed for Jane’s and saw drunk perry melt down and have the sound turned off on him as he bitched about Deblasio. A...

Re: Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans

We complain about Etty being on stage and the suspension stuff with Jane's but this show is a reminder of how bad a stage show/circus really can be. yeah but i loved those shows. the current thing is a staged bit of stupidity. that seemed to me, the few times I saw it, a genuine freak side show. i'...

trulio disgracias. haven't heard about that night of madness in a very very long time. does norwood still sometimes put that together out in LALA land? I recall a tour around 93 I guess that came thru new York. it had Thelonious monster with frusciante, and norwood and all sorts of other madness. b...

this pure shite may have been here before but it showed up in the youtube margin during that half shite pixies song (which I actually enjoyed because i'm a sucker for covers and perry was having fun). ring of fire. at least steve jones brings royalty to the proceedings. but when he says 'you have yo...

Re: NME Awards - Ten Years On

It's funny that between 2008 and 2012, a lot of their contemporaries reunited as well. Sort of funny, although the spate of bands with a long history of "we're never getting back together" getting back together within a year or two of a massive global financial crash is, imho, far from coincidental...

hey that was fun and good. welcome to our little community which for you, I think, defines irony. you're working so hard to perform these great songs and have joined a forum where all we do is lament how much jane's disappoints us and especially how funny perry's teeth are.

Re: Pearl Jam w/Perry do Mountain Song at Lolla Brasil 2018

Their voices really don't go together too well. Perry actually sounded pretty good there. :noclue: this. Ed wasn't really singing in any sort of duet with Perry. he just seemed to love the song, know all the words, so he sang. PJ played it like a song they grew up listening to really loud. perry so...

A Bunch of Hippies Heard a Jane's Cover

1BGU5I4w-Io Lockn has taken over from bonnaroo as the summer deadhead fest. Joe Russo's Almost Dead is a terrific GD cover band. Bienvento/Russo was/is a superb jazz duo that i saw for years in New Orleans. Russo has always reminded me of Perkins in a number of ways, primarily that he bangs hard, p...

"Make it new." -- Ezra Pound Having said that, my guess is that there are quite a few older bands that you haven't yet explored deeply. Most of us here kept living for a JA experience at least thru 91, and to a large extent for the P4P years that followed, because reunion and new music seemed possib...

IMO the Strays era shows were bad. I saw them at Irving Plaza and on the Lolla 03 tour that year. They looked bored at lolla. I don't like any of the Strays era stuff on youtube either. It just seems like something is off. The TGEA tour, Ninja tour, and 25th anny tours were much better shows. The L...

Pigs in Zen in the cinema

This may be old news. Showtime has a documentary called Burn Motherfucker Burn about civil unrest in L.A. and the relationship between blacks and the LAPD. It opens with an old interview with an Dixie bigot described as an 8th generation plantation owner talking about how they viewed negroes as 'pet...

If you don't know every note plus a live tape from each touring cycle of radiohead, just immerse yourself in that for a while. Hopefully they're not done, so 4-5 years from now LP 10 will come out and they'll tour again and it will remain the best thing out there. If you missed Frank Zappa, cure tha...

Respectfully disagree. Kudos on the many funny quips and 'lyrics' on this thread. One tiny little defense of PF on the subject of politics. Back in '04, the year kerry lost to the young Bush, moveon.org was new and did incredible work almost getting rid of W. They had a fundraiser at the Hammerstein that was really good. ...
