Re: Evening W/Perry Farrell at Grammy Museum

I assume, but there's been no official notice yet. Today's obviously a day of accelerating cancellations.

And now, cancellation's official. From the Roxy's FB page:

Re: Hype's Philosophy Thread

Time as a student and teacher in graduate English Studies programs. A couple of Jameson's essays are canonical and oft-debated in English programs, the one cited already along with "Third-World Literature."

Re: Hype's Philosophy Thread

The titular essay is a seminal piece on postmodernism, centered in large part on the disorientating surface(s) of cultural and spatial production in the age of late capitalism. It can be found online in its original publication in New Left Review (1984): https://newleftreview.org/issues/I146/article...

I was trying to be generous by reading P's post as meaning we are the same people in the band aside from Eric. But it is indeed likely tinged with pettiness.

Yep, Kiwanuka's been on repeat in our house since Friday when it dropped. Waiting for my pink vinyl copy to land on the doorstep any day, too.

New Poppy Jean Crawford Single 4 Oct 2019

I could have posted this one in the main Jane's discussion section, but she's deserving of being thought of as a musician in her own right. A new single from Poppy Jean Crawford was released today, apparently a lead track off an upcoming e.p. on DangerMouse's label Nov. 1. Song can be streamed here:...

I don't suppose there's new info in this new write-up on the groundbreaking nature of Jane's, but it's always nice to read a piece like this to remind oneself of their greatness.

On repeat right now, Richard Dawson's "Jogging"

And, finally listened to the Maria Hackman record and it's damn good!

And, yeah for Larry getting into Animals. Brilliant record, especially Dave Gilmour's emotive lead work.
