Re: U2 Achtung Baby Massive Box Set Coming

The entire set has leaked. The extra discs, especially the "Kindergarten" or Baby version of Achtung Baby is a fascinating revelation even though I have long had the elaborate "Salome" almost 4 hours worth of Hansa studio demos. While a number of songs are close to finished versions missing maybe so...

I just watched "Bunraku" last night on a whim. It's surprisingly one of the more entertaining and stylistically bizarre looking fi...

Re: Production of TGEA

What is everyone's opinion on the production quality? It is my biggest complaint. Perry, on this album, contrary to popular opinion is not the weakest link... It is Costey. There is no space between instruments and layers. There is no distinction. Anyone agree? Disagree? I wish it was produced more...

I like the depeche Mode and Damien Rice covers. Interesting how Rice switches the focus of the song from the other person to himself.

Re: Fave guitarists (sorry but previous threads are dead)

I think I will be seeing Brian James next weekend at FFF6 as the Damned are playing not sure if he is in this line up. Brian hasn't played with The Damned since about 1991 when he did a short reunion/anniversary tour with them. The Damned is and has been for some time basically Captain Sensible and...

A couple on my list aren't groundbreaking or the greatest players, but they are *my* favorite guitarists: Jimi Hendrix Eddie Van Halen Gary Moore Jimmy Page Geordie (Killing Joke) The Edge Brian James (The Damned, Lords Of The New Church) Tony Iommi Pete Townsend Daniel Ash (Bauhaus, Love and Rocket...

Re: Scam Artists Targeting Older Men

OLDER MEN ARE VICTIMS Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it. A 'heads up' for those men who may be regular customers at Lowe's, Home...

Re: Jane's on Letterman

but even the '97 Relapse tour was like a Motley Crue show in that regard. That's the one thing that bothered me about the ENIT show, when during Three Days Perry did a little choreographed on all fours routine with the ladies. It reminded me of something I would have seen in a Warrant video. ZBrhok...

Re: U2 Achtung Baby Massive Box Set Coming

Considering the artists involved, almost all of these covers have so far been a disappointment for me to some degree. Even the Patti Smith and Gavin Friday tunes which I like the best seem rushed with little thought put into the new arrangements.

Perry's been using female eye candy onstage since '91. Granted, never to the ridiculous and cheesy levels he does now, but even the '97 Relapse tour was like a Motley Crue show in that regard.

Re: U2 Achtung Baby Massive Box Set Coming

Trent remixed "Vertigo" when it came out. Aside from that, he was into new wave and mainstream "alternative" in the 80s (back when U2 was both hugely popular and also cool with college kids). xLPcE-5YWKI Trent looked like he belonged in Big Country or The Alarm. Regarding his take on Zoo Station, n...

I just watched the first minute of that. It never ceases to amaze me how fucking shit that song is. That song is what officially killed Jane's Addiction for me. Yeah, I'm probably one of the few knuckelheads here that like Strays for what it is - a decent hard rock record - and yet I really can't s...

Final first week sales are in, and they're far better than the 55% estimates were. It debuted at No. 11 with 24,195 copies sold. Respectable showing by Jane's. Not bad considering Capital didn't do anything to promote it. Which isn't surprising since the band took 8 years to make 10 songs. The only...

Re: Did Eric Avery ever exist or was it all a dream?

Hardly surprising when you consider who's running the show. Not nearly as offensive (to fans) as when Eddie Van Halen had the web master of the band's site photoshop Eddie's then-16 year old son (who wasn't even born when the album was recorded) onto the original debut album's cover art in the site'...

Re: Jane's on Letterman

That backing track is overkill. I hate backing tracks, but if you're gonna have it, make it one or two voices, mixed low, not something that sounds like a small army mixed higher than everything else. Has anybody ever heard of a chorus effect that will harmonize with the voice feeding into it, in r...
