The solo in Splash is cringe worthy. It all sounds like bad GNR.

Re: The Smashing Pumpkins

Been listening to a lot of Siamese Dream lately. What an absolute masterpiece of an album. My favorite song was always Mayonnaise, but for some reason Hummer has been blowing my mind in ways it never did before. I always liked it, but my god. It's just a brilliant, brilliant song. Epic in ways only...

Re: Underground video premieres Jan 25th on VEVO

Tonight, Tonight is an anthem to me. Brilliant lyrics, beautiful song. Believe, believe in me, believe That life can change, that you're not stuck in vain We're not the same, we're different tonight Tonight, so bright Tongiht And you know you're never sure But your sure you could be right If you he...

Isn't embarrassing which as about as much as I can ask for at this point. Perry looks so much better with the buzz cut, I hope he keeps it. Also, does anyone notice Perk at :46 in the chorus hit the crash when he is supposed to be hitting the floor tom? Guy must have been quite baked

Re: First marijuana ever thread

My sophomore year of high school, we all drove to my a friend's house with my best friend and his older sister who provided all the weed with her friends. A blunt was passed amongst everybody and we took hits from the pipe. I felt kinda giggly and a bit slow, but no real physical high or feeling of ...

Re: First Show Ever Thread

Oh boy.. Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, October 1st, 2007, at the Great American Music Hall. I was 13 and convinced i would never see Jane's again and I knew that Perry had been doing Jane's songs on this tour, so I talked my parents into going and we went. The show was actually a blast, I was rig...

Re: tour dates so far

I'm sure with a band like Jane's though it would be surprising to find too many people much younger there. I think the average is 33+. With the exception of Hype and maybe a few on here, I don't anyone in real under the age of 30 who likes, or even knows about JA. I'm 17 and I was posting on Xiola ...

I was just listening to Gish last week on my ride to work and I fucking love that CD. I hadn't listened to it straight thru in a while, so it was great to hear it & not be bothered by anyone. I've gotten into the habit of listening to my ipod on random, so I don't tend to listen to a full cd. I nee...

"With regard to Deconstruction, why that album got such a bad distribution? It’s a real psychedelic-rock gem that deserves to be much more affordable for everyone, I mean not only for the net but also in the stores where it is unavailable." Re: JANE'S ADDICTION - FIXED

I'm pretty high right now and I thought the only song so far I've liked is Splash a Little Water on It. I didn't think that was a very good song to begin with because of its cheesy gnr rock sound, but you somehow made that pretty listenable. Curiosity Kills was kinda cool to start with but that rand...

Re: curiosoty kills

I think this is one of the stronger songs on the album. It has real P4P feel for me and I love Dave's simple melodic playing in the verse. The chorus feels a little bit weak, but it makes sense in context of the song, but my only real complaint in this song is how pussified Steve's drumming has beco...

Best song on the album by far. I imagine this would have sounded badass even in 1992-93 if Jane's 1.0 had written this too

I think Strays, the song, is pretty great. With the exception of the lame solo, this song sounds like something out of Jane's 1.0 to me

Re: i'll hit you back

Oh... and it's definite: Perkins lost his mojo. A shame, really. Totally standard drumming. That's my biggest disappointment with this album so far. Perk is keeping standard rock beats. But I like this song a lot for some reason. The chorus is a bit boring in the rhythm section, but I like it a lot.

On a whim, I decided two nights ago to get a ticket for the Smashing Pumpkins at the Fox Theater in Oakland on the 7th, on the chance they bring their A game. God damn. I'm a pretty big fan, but since I am 17 and only got into them last year, I obviously never saw any of their shows before with any...

This actually sounds pretty solid up until Nausea. This seems like it is actually pretty tough to do vocally, so props to Perry for trying. Would really love to see this in some future live shows.

Smashing Pumpkins always were more about the big wall of guitar, whereas Jane's relied more on the bass to drive the songs. That's all i'll say about it though. If you guys hear Jane's Addiction, so be it. I hear what you are saying...but on Gish, there are a few tracks that start with a rolling ba...
