Re: May 7 2012 San Antonio
Great show. Initially I took the crowd's inventory and thought they'd suck. Did see a NiNJa shirt, an original '91 Lolla shirt, and the girl in front of me was so into it and claimed she'd loved them since she was 11. Just high energy and a lot of fun. The crowd loved it. Perry seemed in his element. A few too many twirls or pirouettes, but I have to remember this guy is happy and in his element. He's not a drug using dick who once told Dominguez Hills that they all sucked (that was a Porno show).
The stage set was further back than would have been ideal, but both Perry and Dave made every effort to come forward, shake hands and interact. Dave wasn't the rock poseur people claim he tends to be. Perry filled glasses with wine and at the very end tossed his 1/4 empty bottle to someone. I got a fist bump and a hand squeeze from Perry as did most everyone at the front.
Perry was up in the mix. Before the show I sought out the sound guy and told him to ensure Perry was up in the mix, and that I'd heard complaints about Perry being low in the mix and he said not on his watch. Funny, though, a woman told me that the sound guy should be fired. She didn't enjoy it.
First time I saw Jane's was Price Center Ballroom at UCSD two nights in a row. That was Probably '89 or maybe '90
I'm glad I can still see them and have as much fun.
Oh, stand out songs: 3 days, Chip Away, Ocean Size--

Perry is still one of the greats, of course... but he wrote songs he can't still sing, whereas Iggy wrote songs that he couldn't sing even then, and didn't need to.
