I have no idea what this card is, but I I just learned that off duty cops and family get passes on the laws the cops are paid to enforce. Um, wow.

It's ironic, since unlike most of us, they should REALLY know better...

It either diminishes the utility of the law, or sets them above it....or both :balls:

But didn't you know that the law is only for the bad people? And cops are the ones who determine who the bad people are, right? Why would they determine themselves to be bad?

I usually just assume most people are mostly bad at most of what they do most of the time. So cops aren't that surprising... :scared:

I assume it for most cops, about half of adults, a small percentage of kiddos, and no golden retrievers.

Well, yeah children and dogs aren't people. But more than half of adults are bad at most things. 50% are just technically "below average" in any normally distributed skill.

Oh, well, by 'people' I meant by way of degree, not kind... It's a threshold of rational capacities. Dogs and babies and idiots clearly reason, just not as much as people, and usually not with any degree of competence. I'm being facetious in my anti-Kantian stridency... obviously idiots and children are, more or less, people, and anyway what I actually think is more pessimistic in a way: ALL people are fucked up in their thinking almost ALL the time. We're just lucky a lot of the time, too.

I have seen this firsthand.....many years ago, and am not surprised at all nothing has changed. I think this will be the tip of the iceberg yet again here in LA. :banghead:

Been to? I don't understand. I haven't been to many counties in corrupt states but I tend to believe ca, and la inparticular, are obscene.

I mean I've visited most major cities and been to most of the really bad areas in them, areas where the police had bad reputations and what have you, and LAPD definitely operates on a completely different level...

Aha. Yes, the LAPD is horrible, but so are the LA County Sherriff's. They run the jail.

It's kind of hard to tell if they fired on him while he was still trying to get his car moving after the crash which would be a legitimate use of deadly force as a automobile is considered a lethal weapon and he clearly showed no regard for life when he smashed into that car. If they started firing on him when he got out of the car..... mmmmaybe, maybe not necessary, but after what just happened, that guy could have been up to anything when he got out of the car and the cops had a split second to react. I know if I was in that car that got T-boned especially if any friends or family where also in the car with me, I'd personally congratulate the cop(s) that shot the fucker.

yeah that's what i thought. if they were shooting at him (which they probably were) when he was in the car then that is probably justified by law. once they are shooting they are shooting to kill so once he gets out they are going to keep firing. still doesn't seem right seeing a guy shot with clearly no weapon.
