If Sessions wasn't on the list, I'd say Bannon. It's weird that Sessions name is being bandied as the new Homeland Security head after all the shit Trump has publicly heaped on him recently.

Tillerson is currently on some sort of leave because he's so unhappy with Trump/the position.

I'd say he pulls the plug before Sessions is asked to step down.

I'm guessing it will be Bannon; my husband thinks it will be Tillerson. Tillerson lost his temper last month and let a few people have it. Kushner said Tillerson's outburst was "unprofessional." (Oh - the irony. )

'UNPROFESSIONAL' REX TILLERSON GIVES MEDDLING WHITE HOUSE STAFFERS AN EARFUL
BY GRAHAM LANKTREE ON 6/29/17 AT 5:25 AM

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson lit into top Trump administration staffers during a meeting in White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus’ office last Friday.

Tillerson—widely known for his sober, unflappable demeanor—was riled by what he saw as White House meddling in staffing the State Department. The department is still missing more than a hundred staffers in senior positions five months into the administration.

Four people familiar with the details of the meeting described the heated exchange to Politico. During his tirade, Tillerson quarreled with the director of presidential personnel, Johnny DeStefano. Tillerson made clear he didn’t want DeStefano to question his judgement or “have any role in staffing,” said a senior White House aide who knew the details of the conversation.

President Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor, Jared Kushner, Priebus, and Tillerson’s chief of staff Margaret Peterlin were also in the room when Tillerson began to raise his voice. After his outburst, Kushner told Peterlin that what happened was unprofessional.

President Donald Trump had promised Tillerson authority to staff the State Department—which acts as the face of the U.S. abroad and carries out complex diplomatic missions—with the individuals he deems right for the job.

Yet Tillerson has been overruled by the White House in the past. In February, Trump rejected his pick for Deputy Secretary of State, Elliott Abrams, because he was critical of Trump during the 2016 election campaign. The White House has also resisted Tillerson’s wish that career diplomat Susan Thornton, who is acting assistant secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, officially take over the job.

Trump has also given Tillerson the task of slashing the State Department budget by 28 percent—a move that former diplomats and Trump’s own Secretary of Defence James Mattis have called a danger to national security.

The lack of senior officials at the State Department is having an impact. It was evident early this week when three foreign ambassadors, including two from Europe, told The New York Times that they are now contacting the National Security Council to answer their questions because the State Department doesn’t return their calls or give them the information they need.

Tillerson and Trump’s generals have often been sidelined or contradicted by the president. On Monday the White House failed to coordinate a warning it issued to Syria about using chemical weapons with U.S. national security agencies, according to several U.S. officials.

The Secretary of State has also disagreed publicly with President Trump over a blockade of Middle East nations against Qatar.

“Colleagues are capable of frank exchanges,” State Department spokesman R.C. Hammond told Politico when asked about Tillerson’s outburst. “Evaluating nominees did get off to a slow start, but it is now moving along at a pretty good clip.”

And the winner is --------- SCARAMUCCI.

Well, that was quick. General Kelly is shaking things up. Maybe Bannon will be next. Or possibly Kushner if Kelly really has full control.

Trump removes Scaramucci as communications director

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to remove Anthony Scaramucci from his job as communications director, the New York Times reported on Monday, citing three unidentified people close to the decision.

News of Scaramucci's removal came hours after Trump swore in a new chief of staff, retired General John Kelly. Politico reported the dismissal came at Kelly's request, citing two unidentified White House officials.

The decision to remove Mr. Scaramucci, who had boasted about reporting directly to the president, not the chief of staff, John F. Kelly, came at Mr. Kelly’s request, the people said. Mr. Kelly made clear to members of the White House staff at a meeting Monday morning that he is in charge.

It was not clear whether Mr. Scaramucci will remain employed at the White House in another position or will leave altogether.

Trump says he's not happy with HHS Secretary Tom Price
Associated Press Associated Press 31 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Donald Trump said Wednesday he is "not happy" with Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price following reports that Price used a private plane for official business.

And Trump says he let Price know it.

Asked whether he's planning on firing Price, Trump responded: "We'll see."

Trump spoke to reporters Wednesday as he departed the White House for a trip to Indianapolis to sell his tax plan.

Price said Saturday he would stop flying private planes on official business while an internal review of the flights is being done. He's also said he welcomes the review.

Trump's comments came as a congressional committee launched a wide-ranging examination of air travel by high-ranking Trump officials following reports that Price used pricey charters when cheaper commercial flights were available.

The House Oversight and Government Reform committee sent detailed records requests to the White House and 24 federal agencies.

Signed by committee's top Republican and Democrat, the requests demand information on political appointees' use of government planes for personal travel, as well as their use of private charters for official travel.

Congressional investigators are asking for records dating back to Trump's first day in office.

Separately, the Health and Human Services inspector general's office is also looking into some two dozen trips reportedly taken by Price.

Lawmakers are demanding records by Oct. 10.

Tillerson’s Fury at Trump Required an Intervention From Pence
by CAROL E. LEE, KRISTEN WELKER, STEPHANIE RUHLE and DAFNA LINZER
EXCLUSIVE
POLITICS
OCT 4 2017, 11:31 AM ET

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was on the verge of resigning this past summer amid mounting policy disputes and clashes with the White House, according to senior administration officials who were aware of the situation at the time.

The tensions came to a head around the time President Donald Trump delivered a politicized speech in late July to the Boy Scouts of America, an organization Tillerson once led, the officials said.

Just days earlier, Tillerson had openly disparaged the president, referring to him as a “moron,” after a July 20 meeting at the Pentagon with members of Trump’s national security team and Cabinet officials, according to three officials familiar with the incident.

In an unscheduled statement to reporters Wednesday morning, Tillerson directly addressed that version of events, saying, "I have never considered leaving this post."

He praised Trump's foreign policy agenda, saying he was part of a team to "make America great again." But he did not deny calling the president a "moron," declining to address that remark directly and saying, "I'm not going to deal with petty stuff like that."

While it's unclear if he was aware of the incident at the Pentagon, officials said Vice President Mike Pence counseled Tillerson, who is fourth in line to the presidency, on ways to ease tensions with Trump, and other top administration officials urged him to remain in the job at least until the end of the year.

Officials said that the administration, beset then by a series of high-level firings and resignations, would have struggled to manage the fallout from a Cabinet secretary of his stature departing within the first year of Trump’s presidency.

Pence has since spoken to Tillerson about being respectful of the president in meetings and in public, urging that any disagreements be sorted out privately, a White House official said. The official said progress has since been made.

Yet the disputes have not abated. This weekend, tensions spilled out into the open once again when the president seemed to publicly chide Tillerson on his handling of the crisis with North Korea.

NBC News spoke with a dozen current and former senior administration officials for this article, as well as others who are close to the president.

Tillerson, who was in Texas for his son’s wedding in late July when Trump addressed the Boy Scouts, had threatened not to return to Washington, according to three people with direct knowledge of the threats. His discussions with retired Gen. John Kelly, who would soon be named Trump’s second chief of staff, and Defense Secretary James Mattis, helped initially to reassure him, four people with direct knowledge of the exchanges said.

...

In August, Trump was furious with Tillerson over his response to a question about the president’s handling of the racially charged and deadly violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, administration officials said. Trump had said publicly that white nationalists and neo-Nazi sympathizers shared blame for violence with those who came out to protest them.

“The president speaks for himself,” Tillerson said at the time, when asked on “Fox News Sunday” about Trump’s comments.

Hammond said Trump addressed the issue with Tillerson in a meeting the next day. He said that during the meeting, Trump congratulated another White House official, Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert, for his performance on the Sunday news talk shows. Bossert had defended Trump’s controversial pardon of former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio.

The president, according to Hammond, told Tillerson he was upset with his comments when he saw them the first time. But, Hammond said Trump told Tillerson, after watching the interview a second and third time, the president understood that Tillerson was trying to say Trump is the best person to convey what his values are.

Still, the message was clear that Trump wanted Tillerson to defend him more, Hammond said.

The frustrations run both ways. Tillerson stunned a handful of senior administration officials when he called the president a “moron” after a tense two-hour long meeting in a secure room at the Pentagon called "The Tank," according to three officials who were present or briefed on the incident. The July 20 meeting came a day after a meeting in the White House Situation Room on Afghanistan policy where Trump rattled his national security advisers by suggesting he might fire the top U.S. commander of the war and comparing the decision-making process on troop levels to the renovation of a high-end New York restaurant, according to participants in the meeting.

It is unclear whether Trump was told of Tillerson’s outburst after the Pentagon meeting or to what extent the president was briefed on Tillerson’s plan to resign earlier in the year.

Tillerson also has complained about being publicly undermined by the president on the administration’s foreign policy agenda, officials said.

Those strains were on display this past weekend when Tillerson said, to the White House’s surprise, that the U.S. is attempting diplomatic talks with North Korea.

Trump quickly took the opposite position, writing on Twitter “I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man...,” using his latest epithet for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“...Save your energy Rex, we'll do what has to be done!” Trump added in a second tweet.

In an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News late Thursday, Trump attacked the department under Secretary of State Tillerson and said he alone determines U.S. foreign policy.

“The one that matters is me,” Trump said. “I‘m the only one that matters because, when it comes to it, that’s what the policy is going to be.”

Asked if he planned to keep Tillerson on board for the rest of his term, Trump told Fox, “Well, we’ll see. I don’t know.”

...
Accommodating the president, rather than working with him, is not a normal mission for a secretary of state — and for Tillerson, it seems to be an increasingly doomed one. “The president’s always saying, ‘Rex’s not tough,’ and ‘I didn’t know he was so establishment,’ ” says one Trump adviser. After Tillerson’s “moron” gibe became public, the president, while dismissing the report as “fake news, ” also told Forbes, “if he did that, I guess we’ll have to compare I.Q. tests. And I can tell you who is going to win.” The question among many people inside and outside the Trump administration is not necessarily what’s keeping Tillerson from resigning; it’s what’s stopping Trump from firing him. One Trump-administration official offered me a tentative theory: “Losing a chief of staff in the first year is a big deal, but losing a secretary of state is an even bigger one.”

Donald Trump Wants Ivanka and Jared Kushner to Move Back Home to NYC
Newsweek Beatrice Dupuy, Newsweek 1 hour 36 minutes ago

President Donald Trump has told his daughter Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, to move back to New York, fueling rumors of a strained relationship between his son-in-law and senior adviser, according to a new report.

Trump is pressuring the couple to move back home to escape the negative press coverage, Vanity Fair reported Tuesday.

“He keeps pressuring them to go,” a source told the magazine.

The latest report follows an earlier story in Politico that Trump has mentioned his concerns in front of other staffers, telling his daughter and White House adviser, “Baby, you’re getting killed, this is a bad deal.”

Kushner’s influence in the White House appears to be waning, signaling that the couple could soon be leaving town. Vanity Fair reported that chief of staff John Kelly has “clipped his wings.”

Kelly reportedly created a new system under which all advisers are required to report to him. This means Ivanka Trump has to go through Kelly to get to her father.

Kushner is apparently also not on the good side of Kelly, who reportedly expressed discontent over Kushner’s visit to Saudi Arabia in October. On the trip, Kushner met with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, who was arrested days after the meeting.

Axios reported on Monday that Ivanka Trump and Kushner are staying out of Kelly’s way as the chief of staff tries to restore order.

Reports surfaced that the president was not too happy with Kushner too after he took his advice to fire FBI director James Comey and met with a Russian operative.

The Trump administration and the Trump family have been entangled in press coverage over the special counsel investigation into the president’s advisers’ ties to Russia.

Kushner is reportedly growing concerned about the Russia probe. Legal experts have told Newsweek that Kushner’s inability to list all of the foreign contacts on national security clearance forms and his financial holdings could make him a subject of the probe. One of the foreign contacts Kushner has since added to his clearance forms includes Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, who was at the infamous Trump Tower meeting in 2016 with the now-indicted former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.

It’s unclear if Kushner and the first daughter will decamp to New York City, where they still have an apartment. The couple currently lives in a $5.5-million home in the ritzy Kalorama section of Washington, D.C.

The next one was the White House Ethics Lawyer

http://thehill.com/homenews/administrat ... er-resigns
A White House ethics lawyer reportedly resigned last week.

James Schultz, whose work included ethics and financial disclosure issues, is planning to go back to his private practice at Cozen O'Connor, a Philadelphia-based law firm, Politico reported.

"That was something Don [McGahn, the White House counsel] and I discussed very early on," Schultz told the news outlet.

"I was interested in continuing with private practice and saw this as a tremendous opportunity to go serve and get things up and running and the plan was to move on about this time."
He added that people typically stay in these positions for a year to 18 months.

Schultz also told Politico he would be willing to take part in the public debate regarding conflicts of interests in the Trump administration.

"That'll be something I'd be willing to do, certainly, getting out and talking about the good work the Trump administration is doing on these issue," he said.

"I will be out, but I don't plan to make a career out of being a pundit on TV. ... I'm planning to have a robust law practice."

He added that some members of the media "unfairly criticize this administration and take every opportunity to take shots, even when they're not justified."

"There has been undue attention. ... We've been more onerous in making people divest and recuse than the agencies would have required," Schultz told the news outlet.

"There have been folks out there trying to make a name for themselves in that space by being critics in order to set themselves up for other positions down the road."

He specifically pointed to Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, who has been a frequent critic of the administration. Shaub last week said he filed a complaint with a federal watchdog over White House counselor Kellyanne Conway's comments on the Alabama Senate race.

“It became pretty evident early on that Shaub’s goal was to [set] himself up to be a pundit when he left government," Schultz said.

"Nobody knew who Walter Shaub was before Donald Trump became president. ... He immediately thrust himself into the limelight instead of being helpful on the issues where he could have been. It was more about him than about ethics.”

White House Plans Tillerson Ouster From State Dept., to Be Replaced by Pompeo, Within Weeks

By Peter Baker and Maggie Haberman
Nov. 30, 2017

WASHINGTON — The White House has developed a plan to force out Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson, whose relationship with President Trump has been strained, and replace him with Mike Pompeo, the C.I.A. director, within the next several weeks, senior administration officials said on Thursday.

Mr. Pompeo would be replaced at the C.I.A. by Senator Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas who has been a key ally of the president on national security matters, according to the White House plan. Mr. Cotton has signaled that he would accept the job if offered, said the officials, who insisted on anonymity to discuss sensitive deliberations before decisions are announced.
