I got the second dose moderna on friday. The first had me feeling pretty lethargic for 48 hours afterwards; this one left me feeling rotten yesterday with a fever that swept up swiftly last night. I slept worse than normal. Today was better and now 48+ hours later I feel baller.

Everyone be safe and stay hopeful.

My wife, son and I all got our 2nd Moderna shot together this morning. Wife told the nurse giving me the jab today was my 62nd birthday so they made a big, embarrassing deal out of it. I felt like one of those old fuckers at a rest home. On the plus side, zero issues so far with any of us.

Everything was great up through about midnight last night after we got the second shots that morning. Around midnight, significant achiness in my neck, arm and joints, mild headache, hot and cold sweats set in and no way to get to sleep. All three of us have exactly the same symptoms, all three of us feeling like hammered shit today.

I looked at it like trading a 24 hour flu for Coronavirus immunity, and I got to schedule the day I'd have the flu.

Or you'll get lucky...I know a few peeps who had nothing from either shot but a sore arm...it's way worth it...not even a 48 hour flu that isn't anywhere near as bad as the real flu...as worst case possibility

It's weird. I went back to bed and slept for a couple hours. Woke up a while ago feeling much better but super hungry. Drove to a local sandwich shop, ate a meatball sandwich and feel like a million bucks now. Wife and son are still feeling crappy, son's been sleeping the entire day away.

My husband got his 2nd Pfizer dose Thursday morning. His arm is still sore and he was tired all day yesterday. Nothing else. Probably the worst thing was my feeling his forehead and asking how he felt every 10 minutes.

Wow, never thought I'd hear about these kind of measures in Canada....

Ontario gives police authority to stop people, vehicles, ask purpose of travel

TORONTO -- The Ontario government is giving police temporary powers to enforce its stay-at-home order and allowing them to stop individuals and vehicles and ask their reasons for leaving their homes.

Solicitor General Sylvia Jones made the announcement Friday afternoon as part of the new measures introduced by Premier Doug Ford's government to stop the further spread of COVID-19.

"We have made the deliberate decision to temporarily enhance police officers' authority for the duration of the stay-at-home order. Moving forward, police will have the authority to require any individual who is not in a place of residence to first provide the purpose for not being at home and provide their home address," Jones said.

It will be effective as of Saturday, Apr. 17.

Jones said the decision was made as some people continue to leave their residences for non-essential reasons. She added the government needs to take action to address non-compliance.

"I cannot stress this enough. It is imperative that everyone limit their trips outside of the home to permitted purposes only, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, medical appointments, outdoor exercise, or for work, that cannot be done remotely," she said.

Those who will not comply will be issued a ticket, Jones said. The province has not provided further details on possible fines, but she said under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, penalties for non-compliance are set at a minimum of $750.

Giving the police carte blanche to enforce the latest lockdown was a massive failure. Less than 24hrs later, Toronto police and other police forces refused to accept and participate in the enhanced pandemic powers granted by the Ontario government. As it is the police are stretched pretty thin with dealing with real crime. Less than 24hrs later, Doug Ford reversed this decision via tweet. People were also outraged the he banned playgrounds and outdoor activities. The playground band was reversed too. Basically, the enhanced measures didn't address what needed to be addressed, like sick pay for front-line employees to take time off to get tested, vaccinated, and stay home if they have to. Workplaces that weren't meeting the standards for proper distancing and PPE. As well, vaccines weren't being rolled out to frontline workers and hotspot areas. After almost a week of being out of the public eye, he held a press conference to apologize and acknowledge the government's actions were wrong. Had he listened to the doctors and scientists that were warning since February that this would happen, we wouldn't be going through this now.

Since I posted last, cases are still on average over 4000 per day with more than half being the variants, ICU admissions continue to rise. In less than 10 days, people on ventilators went from around 400 to over 600 now.

On the plus side, over a million people in Toronto have had at least 1 dose.

I got my second shot Friday morning. The headache and body aches came 4am Saturday. It was rough yesterday, couldn't get out of bed. I was hoping it wasn't going to be so bad (despite what I have read) since my husband seemed to glide though his 2nd dose. Worth it nevertheless.

Oh man, lockdown and stay at home order in Ontario may extend into June now. Just this morning I was thinking, "10 more days of lockdown- woohoo!"
The case numbers have dropped a little but the positivity rate is high.

in good news, as of this weekend, Toronto reached vaccination rate of 50% of population with at least 1 dose.

So we have the highest numbers ever, still no vaccine rollout, and they're planning to have the Olympics soon. I just don't get it. Seems a focus on early vaccines would be an investment on the money wrapped up in the Olympics.

Japan baffles me. They seem to be super organized and ahead of the curve as a society on a lot of things, but the government really dropped the ball in the aftermath of the Fukushima meltdown and now the Covid response.

I got my first Sinovac shot last week. Here, they’ve been rolling the vaccine for a couple of months, I think, and by now they are vaccinating people who are 31.

The big problem was that between December 2020 and February 2021 there were basically no restrictions, and we had a peak that was just as bad as May-June 2020.

I had my Astra Zeneca jab a month ago. Felt awful the next day. No temperature but weirdly, felt extremely hot and lethargic. Woke up at 3 am and could't get back to sleep. Was absolutely fine the next day albeit a sore arm.

Things are looking good in Ontario. So far, 75% of adult population has received 1 dose and 25% fully vaccinated.

Today we had 255 new cases for the province...lowest since September of last year.

184 cases today in ON! Out of those, only 17 in Toronto!
There are more than 4.8 million people fully immunized with two doses which is 39.2 per cent of the adult (18+) population. First dose adult coverage stands at 77.7 per cent.
