VP Pick

#1 Post by chaos » Tue Aug 11, 2020 12:22 pm

Rumors are it will be announced today. I don't have a handle on who it might be. I was thinking Susan Rice, but I read that Gretchen Whitmer had an in-person interview with Biden over the weekend. Apparently she is the only one who has had such an interview. :noclue:

(I still think there is a possibility that DJT will dump Pence  )

It needs to be Rice. She is more than qualified to be president if needed; she is loyal; she is a Rhodes scholar and has extensive executive experience. She understands national security and the pros, cons and limits of international institutions. She is a superb pick for those qualities alone, and nothing else should matter.

Of course, she will be attacked (cursed?) for being female and because of her ancestry, and Biden did her and any other potential picks no favors by pledging to pick a female during the primaries. He could have privately made that pledge to himself and saved every potential pick of having to deal with attacks that they were picked solely on those merits, but Biden is who he is (a fucking gaffe machine), and the Dems are obsessed with identity politics. So those attacks would be there either way, particularly since the Republicans are the pitchfork party of the absurd 21st century we currently find ourselves in (Al, why haven't I leaped yet? This reality SUCKS!)

Rice is the real deal. I would be more than happy to see her on the ticket.

It's Harris. Biden is such a douche.

Biden's only "option" was Harris. Biden is lucky it ended up this way.

I think what took so long is that DNC was considering the option of dumping Biden for Kamala.......he would "step down"

Biden is really, really, really bad.
:noclue:

Kamala is bad, but less bad.

Susan Rice for secretary of state?

Kamala Harris is the right choice at this time. I think she appeals to GOP moderates too which the Dems need.

. . .
She was on the most recent list (of 6) for VP.

A couple days ago my mom said... "Oh, they said Biden is going to choose between Kamala Harris or Condeleeza Rice..."
I was like "WHAT...?!!!"

I hope Rice is a contender for sec state. And perhaps she is right for this time and reflects a ‘hold no grudges’ type of story between rivals that we seem to have forgotten how to do. I still find Harris to be contrived, particularly since the debate last year where she called Biden out for being a douche and then sold t-shirts immediately afterwards.

I will still vote for that ticket.
