Are you implying that's Courtney Love?

Really great show. they played for 3 hours, covered a lot of ground. The three guitar setup does the earlier material a lot of good. Everyone played and sounded fantastic, especially on the deeper MCIS and Adore era tracks.

The home movie slide show crap was only one song. The video segments and costume changes are pretty lame but not awful. Overall, I encourage you go see them if they come to town.

It's worth going though. If your favorite bands were capable of capturing 90% of the magic from their peak, you should go.

This tour is it. This is them capturing 90% of the magic.

Turns out, no one has to go outside.

Tonight's show is apparently being streamed live:

Yeah. I don't understand the Smashing Pumpkins' turn to gothy dance-pop for the past few years. And yet Billy's solo music has been amazing.

Siamese Dream is one of my favorite albums of all time. So I'll never be able to appreciate them completely abandoning their shoegaze psychedelic elements.

Heard these on 6 music the other day. Listened to a few of their songs on Spotify. I like.

There's a new 10 track studio album by the Pumpkins out today. I was not expecting to be impressed or blown away by this...but I kind of am. Before the first track even ended, I thought..."This is exactly the kind of production that's missing from modern rock music". It sounds very dynamic and punchy, without a ton of compression. And the songwriting is great too. :thumb:

Unfortunately I’m not digging it. Then again, I haven’t like anything since Mellon Collie, and that was hit or miss. Billy seems determined to never sound like the band did when most people fell in love with them. Psychedelic fuzzed out space rock. Which is fine. It’s his art and his band.

It felt very strange for me to leave halfway through their set during the spirits on fire tour considering I used to love them as much as Janes addiction.

The weird thing to me is how much higher his voice is in the mix now that his voice sounds WORSE.

Like... if he just left it buried behind the guitars like he used to, and maybe used some effects, we probably wouldn't notice that he sounds like a dying cat now.

He did a little documentary series about NWA wrestling (which he owns) on the CW app, and I watched it, and the soundtrack was basically all Smashing Pumpkins. But not their good stuff. All their current stuff. So I was exposed to way more new pumpkins than I wanted to be, and it sounds like ass. It really made me want to NOT listen to anything new they are putting out.

There is just something about the way the guitars sound, and Billy's voice, that just.... ugh. It just sounds fake.

It is infuriating the way he sings now. There’s no dynamic in his voice whatsoever. His reasoning is “it’s what the people want”… it’s not at all.

Also him saying this record is a throwback to Gish and Siamese Dream…. Hell no. He’s still doing dumb synth and string shit and the lyrics are really bizarre. It’s like he’s trying to be some 19th century esoteric poet

Yeah he REALLY sees himself as a proper artist, rather than just a musician.

There's a similar issue going on with the Dandy Warhols. The singer think's he's more than just a guitar playing singer, and the last 5 records have all been absolute shite because they spend more time trying to come up with clever song titles and less time writing something catchy and fun to go along with it.

I'm so tired of these bands that had like 18 months of success and then set out to prove they are more than just a pop band.
