Black Sabbath - Sabotage should be in there for me as well. I don't have enough 60's - 70's albumsMescal wrote:Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii
Primus - Frizzle Fry
Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson
Jane's Addiction - RDLH
RHCP - Bssm I think (I love OHM and Mothers Milk and these are the ones I play most - but I think that one will hold up after the most listens)
Ozric Tentacles - Erpland
BLO - Chapter one
Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley
Tool - Lateralus
Guns N Roses - Live Era
Ask me tomorrow and I'll answer something else
Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
Everyone who put RDLH ahead of NS is crazy. Yes, Three Days and Then She Did... but... NS is the best album, by far.

JA- NS
Eddie Murphy- Raw
Johnny Cash- at Folsom prison
The Cure- Pornography
Robyn Hitchcock- gotta let this hen out
Prince- Sign "o" the times
Rage against the machine- s/t
The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion- Orange
VH- Fair Warning
Echo and the bunnymen- Ocean Rain
The last one is tough right now I'm listening to a lot of the bunnymen so that gets the last spot. It could easily have been any of the following:
Mark lanegan- blues funeral
The stone rose- s/t
PWEI- this is the day...this is the hour...this is this
The national- boxed
Tricky- pre-millennium tension
Happy Mondays- pills etc
U2- Achtung baby

Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
You mention U2.....they have been mentioned before. October, Boy, and War all remind me in feel (production, honesty, youthful fearlessness) of Jane's 1.0 I should have included War

All of those are excellent, but for me Achtung Baby represents a crazy time in my life. I think everyone has certain times in their life were everything is just clicking, I was listening to that a lot during one of those periods of my life.
Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
Totally get it. Was just thinking of fg and k Lamar. I appreciate it's genius but doesn't mark me emotionally
Like david LIVE. Bowie at the Philly tower!!

Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
I am with you on all of these, except I have trouble with Pennywise and Ween. That Autolux album always blows my mind... Future Perfect is what I think it was called? Man... There are some perfectly written songs on there... like... if Kevin Shields made less noise.kv wrote:In no order and ask me next week for new answers...as of this minute lol

Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
Pennywise and ween are my youth....i grew up with the pennywise guys they played our parties, went to our shows..they are as south bay as it gets for my generation...they are home....ween was my intro to four tracking music..head phones and mics...they are both deeply personal to me..first time they played pennywise after a touchdown in san Diego and 60000 people sang along I damn near cried..goosebumped the fuck out of me..the guy I knew best in the band killed himself years ago...if only he knew
Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
Back in my undergrad days, a PhD grad student at the radio station introduced me to Ween (they had just put out a new album), and I tried really hard to like them, because that guy had great taste in music, but it didn't speak to me then. Got a suggestion for where to start over with them?kv wrote:Pennywise and ween are my youth....i grew up with the pennywise guys they played our parties, went to our shows..they are as south bay as it gets for my generation...they are home....ween was my intro to four tracking music..head phones and mics...they are both deeply personal to me..first time they played pennywise after a touchdown in san Diego and 60000 people sang along I damn near cried..goosebumped the fuck out of me..the guy I knew best in the band killed himself years ago...if only he knew
Pennywise is cool, I think I was just too late. Too many people around me who liked Pennywise also liked a lot of garbage, and I guess I got turned off by association.
That Archers of Loaf album is fucking amazing, too, btw...
Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
Def early with ween like the pod and pure guava then godweensatan are really the only ween I like...the pod def my fav..give it a listen and report..newer ween blows imho...but I don't know if their old stuff would hit me if I never heard it till now
