This sucks hard. I was looking forward to seeing Trent and Eric play together. I get Eric's perspective, but in the cases of Trent and even Perry on a different level, why not stick it out and see what comes of it?

Nice thoughts. SO what is this unicorn to which you refer?

Does Robin play bass?

Glad he's back regardless. Feels more like NIN live when Robin is there.

that's sort of weird. we didn't want you back to play guitar but now we have an opening and you can come back now.

My guess is that Robin and the Telefon Tel Aviv guy will switch off. Adrian is the "stunt guitarist," to use a Zappa term, so he'll likely stick with six-string.

Man, I'm still pretty pissed, though. Adrian and Eric with Trent on record would've been approaching some kind of dream of my youth.

I don't think Frink will play bass on more than a couple or three songs live. He's back in the band to play guitar, not bass. As they're in tour rehearsals now, sure bass duties will be divied among the band as needed as they learn the songs but I guarantee that's not going to be the final touring configuration. As Creep said, it will likely be the Tel Aviv guy playing bass or imo more likely, Trent will soon bring in someone to specifically play bass on most of the songs.

I have seen NIN quite a few times and they don't always use bass on the songs. Especially when Danny Lohner was in the band, that guy played 2nd guitar (Robin being the first) more often than he had a bass.

In fact Jeordie played a whole lot of 2nd guitar, rather than bass, as well.

I don't think they really had someone play bass on every song till Justin joined.

So it's not strange for them to have 2 guitar players. A lot of the low end comes from keyboards/synths and drum samples anyway.

Not without Jane's Addiction headlining.

It's always hard to fill those last 400 seats without a solid headliner.

I am always surprised by who people are surprised can fill an arena.

A few years ago I told a friend I was going to see Pearl Jam, and she was SHOCKED they were playing the major basketball arena.

And even moreso when I told her it had sold out, so they opened up the seats BEHIND the stage too.

NIN plays arenas. Always.

Unless Trent wants to do an "intimate" show, then he books the largest theater in each city.

It's not a small unpopular band, that Nine Inch Nails.

Does she live under a rock? :hs:

Pearl Jam is probably the biggest band of the 1990s. People follow them around like they are The Grateful Dead. They usually play two arena shows in Toronto and they sell out in less than 5 minutes.

When Nails came in to Philly in '05 they did both a club venue (electric factory) and the arena (wells Fargo center)- both sold out and had a lot of hype surrounding them. Crazy considering they hadn't toured since 2000. Maybe dragging Queens of the Stone Age along helped a little bit...

it is kind of amazing they're able to sell out arenas, I mean they're amazing, don't get me wrong, but you'd maybe think the mass appeal wasn't really there because some of the music is pretty extreme. anyway nice to see there so many people with great taste out there

People love the "Fuck you like an animal" song.

Trust me, every time i see them, and they play it, i get to be disgusted by the douchey dudebros grinding on their girlfriends.
