Agreed. Good though the 3 albums and other music is or was, I really felt they had a lot of unfulfilled potential.

I think they're amazing. But taste is taste. I wouldn't say theyre life changing, but how many bands are?

I will repeat this isn't a band you can hear some clips or a song or two and have an opinion on. This is an album band.

You also have to have a taste for melancholy. Much of their best work has a rather sad undercurrent. I mean, they have a song called Alone, Jealous and Stoned. Sums up many of their best songs IMO.

I think people hear the Bonham drums and swirly electronics and want something this band isn't, a modern Zeppelin. That's where the "unfulfilled potential" comes in. This is often very introspective music. Something to listen to through headphones alone.

Sat in the dark with a spliff and the headphones on and listened to Ten Silver Drops last night. Absolutely fucking brilliant.

Took me a while to get in sync with this band, but I've been on board for years. I can still remember going and chilling in my hotel rather than seeing them at Lolla in 2006, not the smartest move on my behalf. I got way into them right after that. The last album's first 4 or so songs are killer to me. Definitely an acquired taste. I find myself listening to them a lot in the winter.

I love being the bearer of great news.....

The Secret Machines have reconvened and put out a new album "Awake in the Brain Chamber" last month and it is fucking excellent. I really discovered it was out by accident surfing YouTube late last night. All the songs are on streaming platforms but a physical release doesn't happen until late November w/CD and Vinyl. I will say several songs have a "sameness" about them, but really it's a minor quibble. Here's just a few songs:

Enjoying the new Idles and Secret Machines, only quibble is that the Idles record didn't include digital with the vinyl. Rip roaring nonetheless.
