Re: The Rolling Stones
From what I understand, once word got out that The Stones were actually putting on a really solid concert and improving with every show (and Mick Taylor playing more songs per set), demand for tickets skyrocketed by the 3rd California show in Anaheim a couple weeks ago, even for the ridiculously expensive seats. The Las Vegas show was completely sold out with *no* tickets released the day of the show and there was only scattered $650 seats left for the 2nd LA Staples show this week. A friend of mine who went to the first LA Staples Arena show and lucked out on the $85 day of show ticket lottery and also caught the two Anaheim shows said people were buying the expensive $650 tickets from the box office half an hour *after* the show had already started in Anaheim. It's interesting that at this point, Stones management has decided that rather than knock down the remaining unsold expensive tickets to $85, they'd rather gamble and let them go unsold.Artemis wrote:i've been checking ticketmaster all morning trying to see if the ticket prices will be reduced. so far, the cheapest tickets are $466. Re: The Rolling Stones
I checked all day for tickets and nothing cheaper than the $466 became available. Oh well, I've seen them 5 times over the years.
The guest for the Toronto show was Carrie Underwood.

Re: The Rolling Stones
wow this song was a surprise tonight. it was the song the fans voted to have played:
Clip from Air Canada Centre this evening:
14. “Worried About You”
This song is one of the sublime leftovers that made Tattoo You such a revelation upon its release in 1980. It was intended for 1975’s Black And Blue, which is why part-time guitarist Wayne Perkins plays lead on the track. It’s a good thing the Stones picked it off the cutting-room floor, because it features killer Jagger/Richards vocals in the chorus and some of Mick’s most endearing falsetto singing in the verses. Put it all together and it adds up to one of the most soulful songs in the Stones’ imposing catalog.

Re: The Rolling Stones
Jagger is really good on that tune.
Re: The Rolling Stones
That (the performance) was horrible .
Re: The Rolling Stones
Ha! $650-$2,000 a ticket for that? Yea, I'll pass.
I wonder who comes up with the idea to pair these geezers with pop stars like Underwood and Swift. Aerosmith just released a single with Underwood a few months ago and it stiffed bad. Now the Stones are massacring their standards with Taylor Swift. Aerosmith I can understand because they hadn't released anything in over a decade, but do the Stones really need the crossover appeal that bad at this point?

After the Aero onslaught of the 90's I think I'm cool on them forever....got to a point that everytime I flipped the station to classic rock I was bombarded with them...yuck....left a really nasty taste in my mouth...talk about cashing in now baby ....Saw the Stones after the big earthquake in the city ......couldn't find a working ATM till I hit Bakersfield ....Living Color opened and Guns & Roses rocked the fuck out....Axl blew a tampoon at Slash about "fucking with Mr. Brownstone....but ended up being one of the sweetest show'z....ha!!!...Stones were considered old than...but ya can't count out the Keith Richards factor.....Cockroaches & nuclear war's .....these ticket prices are crazy...who they think they are U2 or Prince?

The Stones are playing a surprise club show at The Fonda in Hollywood tonight. They will be playing the entire Sticky Fingers album front to back, no doubt as promotion for the deluxe box set coming out next month. Tickets are $5 but of course sold out in just a few minutes when they went on sale at noon today. It's too bad Mick Taylor is now off the ongoing tour as this album is his greatest showcase.

Yep, totally agree with you about Mick Taylor.Pandemonium wrote:The Stones are playing a surprise club show at The Fonda in Hollywood tonight. The show tonight should be pretty great though. I'd give my left little toe to be there. Sticky Fingers is one of my fave albums of all time.

Re: The Rolling Stones
Sorry, I should have clarified. The show is June 3 in Minneapolis. We hit the presale just right - $74 bucks each including ticketmaster rape charges, etc.Pandemonium wrote:How did you work that out? It's in TCF Stadium which is a pretty small stadium so there aren't really any "bad seats" - feeling like we snagged a bargain.
Re: The Rolling Stones
Alternate version of Dead Flowers that will appear on re-issue of Sticky Fingers

Re: The Rolling Stones
New Keith Richards tune "Trouble" from his upcoming solo album. Has a laid back feel for a rock tune but I like it better'n any Stones tune from the last 15 years.

Re: The Rolling Stones
what a great guitar player that guy is...talk about aging with style!
Rush are aging with style too by the way. Just recently I heard their album from 2012 Clockwork Angels - it's amazing.

Found a vid from last night's show in Havana. I'm sure many more will emerge in the coming days.

I know someone who knows someone who was there...
