I'm watching too. I just haven't commented about anything.

I'm watching. And I'm enjoying it. Vince Vaughn is doing very well. He might be my favorite. I remember reading a long time ago-unless I'm just making this up--that he'd always envisioned being a serious actor rather than the comedic parts he seems to have been resigned to. I'd be disappointed if Farrel doesn't come back. Unless I missed something I think this is a straightforward narrative. So, if he does return it's because he was wearing a vest, but a shot gun at close range to the stomach? Any gun experts here?

I still haven't watched the new season but I had read about someone getting killed. If they jump back and forward, I'm ok with it. Any links to watch the first two episodes?

I got home on Sunday and catched a bit of

So, how many episodes until the overwrought bar songstress picks up a revolver and blows her brains out onstage? Someone should request "Shiny Happy People".

I thought this week's song was uplifting compared to the first episode.
A few questions and comments for anybody here...
Paul: I gather from this episode that he's gay but in the closet? Looks like there's a weird thing with the mother too.
The recurring shot of the freeway...the arterial roads criss-crossing, constantly moving, flowing in and out and around Vinci. What is the metaphor?
In the depressing bar, I'm curious about the scar-faced waitress. Is she connected to any of this??
I found the opening scene with Vince Vaughn in bed kind of long winded.

I didn't really get that Chris Pratt's character is gay. Maybe he is. I thought he was mostly fucked up from something horrible that happened with whatever name they're using for Blackwater. I think they were calling it Black Mountain.
As for the freeway and such, I don't know what the metaphor is besides perhaps twisted, intersecting paths of lives, the twisted route to solving mysterious crimes, or some other crap like that. Caspar, the dead guy, was driven around in a car (with a stuffed bird) during most of the first episode. Way back when the first season had just ended Nic Pizzolatto said something about the occult history of the U.S. transportation system, but apparently he dropped that idea. In any case, it looks kind of neat.

taylor kitsch...by the way i read that he is now dating rachel mcadams
i got a gay vibe too. didn't he say something like "some fag tried to pick up on me". seems like a pretty good setup for him actually being gay....plus he had to take the viagra and wait 30 minutes to have sex with his gf.
chris pratt is star lord
taylor is john carter

Also the way he lustily eyed up that male prostitute across the street from his apartment. That was the point when I thought he was gay.

Yeah, I think Paul is gay. The viagra, his hostility toward being hit on, and the ending scene in SF all seem to point in that direction.
I think it will be revealed that Detective Antigone was raped during her time in the commune.
Regarding Frank's opening scene in the last episode, I guess they had to find a way to get some of Frank's backstory out there. Btw - I think Frank's wife is plotting something behind his back.
I also think Frank may have had something to do with the rape of Ray's wife.
I came across someone speculating on reddit that Ray may not have been shot with bullets, but rather with rock salt. The shooting was meant as a warning to keep him in line.

I got the feeling that the wife was shifty from the first episode. Good point about the backstory, hadn't thought of that.

Ohhhhhh, I didn't see that he was looking at a male prostitute. I remember he was looking out the window, but I had to get some work done so I was looking away a little bit. I thought the Viagra thing was just him being mentally fucked up, because as I understand it Viagra doesn't give you a hard on, it keeps it hard once it's achieved. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my understanding. Either way, it sounds more like he's gay and I wasn't paying attention. I've been meaning to rewatch the second episode, but I haven't had time yet.
As for getting the actors confused, this is probably the first time I've seen either one in anything, so to me they're just actor names I picked up from the ether, which must be how I mixed them up.

That was the first thing I thought of, but the first blast made him fly back against the wall.

You would think it would have been a bloody scene. No blood, probably no bullets.

i just watched the first episode again. when frank gave ray the pic of the guy that raped his wife was that the same guy that was with the russian dude at that train thing? i assumed ray killed him but that guy looked like him.
i also noticed that there was a bird mask in the car that was driving around the dead guy.

I doubt it's the Russian. Ray definitely killed the guy in the picture. Whether the guy in the picture was really the right guy is another question.

Yeah, I mentioned that a few posts back, but I think it was a stuffed bird, or at least that's what I thought at the time. Either way, they're definitely connected.

Tonight's episode will be directed by a different director - Janus Metz. According his IMDB, he directs mainly documentaries.

i already knew he lived because i clicked on the link chaos put up last week so that wasn't a surprise. i guess the question is why didn't they kill him? it's way too early to guess who is behind all of this but i'm willing to bet frank's wife is somehow involved.

What's everyone got against Frank's wife? Is she too nice? I'm not saying she's not up to something, I'm just curious why people find her suspect.
This episode was pretty decent.

I like her. I still don't get the show since I missed the two first episodes. This season has a total different feel than the first one, which I thought was more cinematic. This one gives me a Martin Scorsese vibe.

I tried to watch it, got bored a bit. But I saw there's this guy from the hot tub time machine movie.

Out of the three episodes aired thus far, I liked last night's the least. I'm losing patience trying to following the convoluted story.
This season pales in comparison with last season, on all levels.
