What's your favourite version?
My fave is the GNR version. There are many out there...even Dolly Parton does a version.
This song always reminds me of when I lived in London. On my way to work I would always pass a busker in one of the tube stations who only played Knockin On Heaven's Door. The first couple of times I thoguht,"what a coincidence. he was playing knockin on heaven's door last time i passed him." One day I was with one of flatmates when we passed this guy and he made a remark about this being the only song he knew. I think it was true because I saw him often in various tube stations and he always played Knockin On Heaven's Door.
(I used to think Axl was really hot. )
Knockin On Heaven's Door

Yeah, I dig the G n' R cover, but only the Live at the Ritz version - not the shitty take they recorded on Use Your Illusion.
Adding the backup singers took it to a cheesy place.

I like this version.

To me no one does it better than GNR before the Illusions came out.. that was magic.
Re: Knockin On Heaven's Door
Guns N Roses playing it at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert.
The way the crowd sings after Axl says: "let's make this one reach the heaven" sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it.
The crowd just overpowers the band.
That is the magic of live music.

Re: Knockin On Heaven's Door
Is that the one where he yells "Gimme some REGGAE!" right before the breakdown?Mescal wrote:Guns N Roses playing it at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert.
