the sundance channel has been doing a breaking bad marathon every wednesday night for the past few months - they air four episodes every wednesday. so ive been enraptured with breaking bad again. theyre up to the last episode of season 3 so shit is about to get real. bb is so fucking good.

i enjoy better call saul but the slow pace gets to me in some scenes. still like watching it though.

Better Call Saul is more cerebral. It's getting into Jimmy's head. How he thinks. Why he thinks the way he does. Why he makes the decisions that he does.

With Breaking Bad, it was all about the consequences of Walt's actions.

some of the scenes drag on....like that fucking bingo scene from last season but it's still a great show.

This show was written on near lethal doses of dilaudid.

I enjoy the languid pace. The tension will undoubtedly be ratcheted up as things progress. I don't know how much it will overlap with with the Breaking Bad timeline, but more edgy drama will inevitably arise as Mike and Jimmy become more deeply entangled with the criminal world and its colorful psychopaths like Hector and Gus. Mike's now teetering on the precipice of his own death spiral.

There's also the question of how far the timeline might extend beyond the finale of Breaking Bad, which finds Jimmy is in a very precarious position.

Huh, I have been looking for those indicators, but have been stranded with the high drama of Saul's late night jaunts to quell his guilt with his girl burning the midnight oil on billings. Maybe I have missed the groundwork being laid, but even if I have, it is taking a painfully long time to establish. Even Saul's general disposition is oddly tentative....no sign yet of the cagey confidence of being ahead of the game in his restricted domain of unethical legalese. I'll continue to watch and hope that you're right though.

After careful consideration, I still can't make up my mind. Kim Wexlar or Betsy Kettleman. I'll take both.

Otherwise, this show is the bomb. I agree with Jasper, I'm also enjoying the languid pace very much. You just know when they tank things up, it'll be an award winning rollercoaster. Do we know how many series are planned?

They're funded for three seasons, so I'm guessing this will go fo 5 seasons. I hope so, it's just as good as BB, and it's all going to kick off soon. I wonder how it's going to pan out for Kim? I wonder if she'll meet a gruesome death courtesy of our favourite cousins?

I'm really enjoying watching the transformation.

I wonder how many seasons it will take to bring us up to Breaking Bad.

Surely Vince has this planned out, right?

I think he dies too and I think that Jimmy is going to feel very guilty about it and this is going to push him further like you said into becoming Saul.

Maybe, maybe not. We know virtually nothing about Jimmy's personal life between now and the entire course of the BB timeline. For all we know Chuck could be a semi-vegetable during BB. We only really know what Jimmy was up to while he was on the clock, being a crooked lawyer. Maybe he's spoon-feeding baby food to Chuck on his off hours.

I do remember that he delivers money to Jesse Pinkman's ex girlfriend, and he talks to her young son and makes some jokes about avoiding women when he grows up because, I dunno, something about how they'll rip your heart out and destroy your life. I haven't seen that since it aired, so the details are a little foggy. Anyway, that could tie in well with Jimmy's presumed relationship crash and burn.

Another great episode. Was it Andrea that Saul delivered money too? I remember that scene too. Will be interesting to see what Jimmy does in relation to phoning 911, rushing over or doing nothing to help his brother.

I did read this too.
With Breaking Bad baddie faves Hector and Tuco Salamanca grab plenty of screen time this season, Gilligan remained mum about the return of future characters from the Emmy-winning series.

Said Gilligan, “We come to realize that from the Breaking Bad universe, anyone (returning) is fair game. That’s where I have to leave it.”

I think Chuck survives. But I think Jimmy not being there for him to cover up his own scam is really going to weigh on him heavily.

I think this is all leading to Chuck suing him, and the terms of Chuck agreeing to drop the suit will basically be that Jimmy can't practice law under the name McGill.

Then, and only then, will Saul Goodman be born. When his own brother legally prevents him from being himself.

Then he cuts ties with Chuck and his own name.

OR, maybe Chuck does die, leaves Jimmy nothing, and the partners use his fortune to sue Jimmy and prevent him from using the name McGill.

Either way, I see lawyers being involved in the name change.
