Yeah, much better tune, probably one of more instantly likeable songs they've put out since the Load era. Looking forward to the new album.

Wow, I hated that. Doesn't help that I am not or never been a metal fan. And it is always unnerving that Lars seems to battle his kit every time I see him. He looks like he just can't keep up. James, ever the professional, looks a bit bloated in the face, especially around his eyes. Trujillo's talent is completely wasted in this too.

Lars really needs a hair cut. You're going bald mate, try not to cover it up by growing a ridiculous mullet. Just shave it off ffs.

The "skullet" is gone... he had it during recording (as seen in the making of videos), but he cut it before their show in February.

Now he's back to wearing a beanie when he plays.

:noclue:

As a guitar player I have always wished I could down pick the way James does, dude is a fucking monster.

I listened to some or all of every song. I don't know. The fast songs sound like Metallica trying to sound like their younger selves, 1 of the slower ones sounded like them trying to write a Sad But True type song and a few songs were just plain boring.

I don't know if I'm just older and jaded. For example, if this album followed the Black Album 15 years ago and I were 15 years younger and Some Kind of Monster and St. Anger and Load and Reload never existed would I like this?

I think it's a decent offering by Metallica, and I feel the same way about my age as you do. I was never a huge fan of the Black album, I always thought ..And Justice was their last best offering. Yes their are a couple of 'meh' songs on there but a few of the songs are Metallica of old which I like.

I tried to get tickets for the Toronto show on the 29th, but it was sold out immediately. The venue is small,950 max. All the proceeds from the gig will go to a local charity. The tickets were $100, 2 ticket limit. They even had some $25 tickets for Fifth members.

Not a bad show here, would have been great to attend. Some songs better than others.

As well as his usual stage disappearances and 'look at me I'm the drummer' poses, Lars seems to have developed another annoying habit of flicking his hand in an Ali G style "Wickid" at any given opportunity (well, a few times)

Speaking of Lars,

I listened to Master of Puppets real loud in my car the other day. His drumming on that album is really solid, no matter what anyone says about his drumming

Found this interesting, never seen it before. I had heard rumours that Eric was rumoured with Metallica but never realised he actually auditioned (at 3.49)

Trujillo is perfect for them.

I really enjoyed that movie, but only because it showed me how much of a bunch of whiny, immature and childish people James and Lars are.. They couldn't just have normal conversations about things, they were constantly saying "when you do or say this, I feel you're doing or saying this or that, and that makes me feel like blah blah blah..." Just. Behave. And. Speak. Normally. or as my wife says "Just try to be a person" :lolol:

Oh and I loved their therapist being paid $40K per week was gonna move his family over into some expensive house and the band was all "Erm no.. we don't need you any more...."

Hopefully there's going to be a last minute ticket drop for Sunday's Hollywood Palladium show like they did when they played The Wiltern before the last tour. I hear they are doing stadiums this tour and playing either Dodger Stadium or The Rose Bowl and I don't want to deal with that.

Why would you bother?

You've seen them in their heyday? No point in seeing them now :noclue:

They still put on a solid show and I think the latest album is pretty decent. And there's no such thing as a bad show at The Hollywood Palladium.

Every time I hear Enter Sandman now, I think of Michael Jackson and get annoyed.
