Weekend trip to London, met with old friends, watched England progress against Sweden, watched the show, went to see Frida Karlo, what a weekend!

Pretty good setlist except for Friday I'm In Love but I guess that have to play that. That and Wrong Number are probably the only bad Cure songs.

Sorry, but anyone who doesn't like "Friday I'm In Love" is dead inside. That's my jam. Got it on my Friday afternoon commute home playlist right there with GNR's "Locomotive" and Janet Jackson's "Escapade".

Yup totes.

Ya buncha fucken amateurs. Listen to the guitar melodies dancing all over the bass, rhythm guitar and keyboards.. LISTEN HARD to the stuff in the background of the intro bit and under the first verses....

I much preferred the RFH gig, but get the festival set list....

Too much of their newer stuff for me. Hard to argue with At Night, Other Voices, A Strange Day and Bananafishbones though....

True. It was a pretty good wander thru the years.

Yeah the last two albums are not the best output. Some great songs in there but they’re not all winners. It Can Never Be The Same is a pearler though.

Yeah the last two albums are not the best output.
:waits: Their last two albums are two of my favourites. There are a lot of duds on earlier albums. The last two are intense, well produced, well written... I can't think of a bad song from either. Take "The Scream" from 4:13 Dream. It sounds a bit Bauhaus-y, but it's great, and it's a deep cut. The Promise from their self-titled album is probably my favourite dark Cure song ever.

I can't think of too many duds from Seventeen Seconds through Disintegration :hs: What a run

For me, I think the last good Cure album was Bloodflowers.

I would have loved to have been in London for that show.

I agree with your top four. I'd put Bloodflowers and The Cure at #5 and #6 though. I'd also put Seventeen Seconds and 4:13 Dream ahead of Faith and 3 Imaginary Boys.

Yeah...3 imaginary boys probably should drop a few spots. I probably haven’t given their newer stuff enough listens. Faith stays though. :essence:

Friday - yeah I agree but the set list (and location) totally rocked haven't stopped playing disintegration since
Odd thing was I never saw one obvious goth there
Nearly 30 tracks by a band that started in the seventies, come on

EC - seeing this late, sorry.

Yes, I went, sadly. Chalk me up as dead inside; this was a clusterfuck, IMHO. I've seen the Cure c.60 times, and with the exception of one other festival, this was at the bottom of the list. The crowd was awful, and the sound was particularly shit - I get that both of those are factors at festivals, but even by festival standards....

I really had thought that something outside of the norm would happen over the these two nights (I also went to Meltdown), given the 40th anniversary, but it was just crowd pleasing. No past members, no never-before-played songs, etc. Which is fine - I should have known better.

Just as I know that when they tour again and are off the festival stage, they'll deliver as they always do. Despite the piss and vinegar I seem to be displaying, I am just beyond thankful that RS still does what he does and does it so fucking well. While the last few studio albums have been forgettable, they still deliver phenomenal shows. The performances are great, they'll play 2...3...4 hours...and play deep, deep cuts. And occasionally do things like Reflections and Trilogy, both of which I was fortunate to see live.

Glad to hear you enjoyed though; post Sweden game....feels like a lifetime ago already! :thumb:
