We recorded a CD

#1 Post by Mescal » Wed Feb 13, 2019 9:25 am

Well, after the 'We recorded a demo' thread from a few years back, here's the 'we recorded a cd' thread

We will be releasing this on cd (yeah, I know, who still buys cd's) and vinyl in a few months through a small local label.

But it's mixed and mastered, so you guys get the premiere

Sorry for the long link ...

Anyway, not that you will do anything else, but please keep this private ...

And again, any thoughts welcome (yep Kv, I would even appreciate yours)

Well, I for one, love that you did this....and appreciate the opportunity to preview it. Listened to track one and the beginning of 2....nowhere close to enough for any thoughtful remarks....but soon.

It sounds like if Stone Temple Pilots went through a Kyuss phase.

And honestly, from what I've heard....that's not a bad thing.

Hi Mescal!

Thanks for sharing your new, CD. I just finished listened and really liked it. I'm not a musician myself, so can't give you an informed critique like some of the others here. I just go by if I like it or not and will I give it another listen.

I like the order the songs are placed in. I think the strongest songs are from 3 to 8.

My fave songs in this order:

Blue Rose
Beaten by Hippies
Rock N Roll
Dust
More is More
Breathe Slow

If you ever end up touring and make it my way, I would see you guys for sure! :thumb:

It's pretty cool. Sort of like Lemmy ate Josh Homme.

Blue Rose starts out really interesting. A bit like a sharper version of Godsmack with more atmosphere. Rock n' Roll and Cabron are a bit like that too I think.

Beaten By Hippies has a bit of an I Mother Earth vibe, which I like a lot.

The Dust intro sounds VERY Tool. Great work on that.

Tomahawk has a Dead Kennedys feel.

I hear a little Primus sound on a track and some of the music reminds me of Masotdon. All great things. I think parts of most of the songs remind me of music I like. It’s like taking a lot of my musical influences and making it your own sound. Pretty cool.

Mescal, this is great. I think the album kicks in properly at Blue Rose, definitely my favourite track. Kind of reminds me of Sabbath meets The Doors (vocals). Beaten by Hippies is such a great track too. Lots of influences throughout the album which is a great thing. Tend to agree with Hype, can hear early QOTSA/Kyuss on a few tracks.

Would have this on in my car for sure

Cool!

Thanks for the nice comments all!

Funny to hear other people's favourite tracks ... Didn't think it would be Blue Rose, we (producer and us) thought it would be Space Tail ...

You're also quite correct about the influences. Working title for Dust was 46&Bagger (Bagger meaning crap in Dutch) and working title for Blue Rose was Blue Sabbath :) So yeah, definitely trying to rip Black Sabbath off in the second part of the song :) And our singer has a bit of a John Garcia voice, so yeah, Kyuss influence would be very obvious.

And Artemis, it's not a musician's album :) So, as long as people like it ... And thanks for listing your favourite tracks; it means you put some thought into it

Anyway, keep the comments coming ... I (we) have been too close to the tracks for the last year, so it's difficult to take some distance. Obviously we like it, since we made it, but we're very curious what 'other' people think ....

Hey Mescal, thanks for sharing.

Nice record. I'd highlight the song ''Rock N' Roll'. That was awesome.

What's your role in the band?
