All this has got me back to SA. Love these albums, especially the deep cuts with the layered gutars of Froosh and Omar Rodriguez Lopez. So different than BSSM (which I consider their masterpiece), but the layered/dueling geets on Turn it Again is some magic.
Really articulate and expressive in his use of language...really the opposite of JF. The whole thing seems a bit underhanded. Oh well, still hoping for something from the 3.0 JF version.
I went to a "live" movie of them basically rehearsing for the IWY tour and JK was abysmal, which now makes sense when I read him relate that he really couldn't play guitar. Thx for the article...went completely under my radar.
I’m not sure I understand... what does he mean when he says he didn’t play guitar before...?
Did they replace Frusciante with a guy who didn’t know how to play guitar?
That would be outstanding in many levels, one of which links to Josh’s demand that they should jam some more in order to compose songs and that they should record playing together in the studio. Like... you don’t even know how to play, shut up.
I think he had a rudimentary understanding. He played backing geets and keys for them before, however when I saw him opening for Jane's with Dot Hacker he never touched one.
As for his finances....I thought that was a bit weird. He may have a really high threshold for what makes him (or his parents) comfortable and secure. He must have done really well with them over the decade. And maybe they changed their 25% thing specically for him.
As for EA 'unfolowing' Flea....that's hilarious. No one cares.
Its not "much darker" Noonesshocking, what are you talking about? Not to me anyway
I heard Josh say once that he "dropped out of high school so he could play guitar". It confllicts with what he's saying here of course
They want John back because he's a songwriter, Josh is not (even though John 2.0 really only has written one really good song: Scar Tissue, but RHCP don't realize that, they're ok with Cabron and that type of stuff)

The Maron interview was all smooches and hugs. Like literally no bad or weird vibes whatsoever.
In this one, his emotional state is more raw, he worries about his finances, says he doesn’t like the albums he made with them, laments their creative process, and at one point suggests only somewhat jokingly that bringing John back is for record sales and that their relationship will likely go bad again. I’d say my description sticks
The thing about him not playing guitar - I think he just means that at the time he was asked, he had not been playing much guitar. Probably was into other things.

you're right, seems like I read that thing a bit too fast or something...
I think one of the few "super rare recordings" I've still got is a Sony Panic demo that features a young Josh on drums and Paz Lenchantin from A Perfect Circle on bass. Doesn't seem to be circulating anywhere. Maybe I should be cool and throw it on Dime or YouTube or something one of these days.
This makes me dislike Josh, the band and John even more. If you had a bit of self-respect as a band, you get a guitar player who can play guitar and has played guitar before, I’d have thought. And they dared “write” and release records with this clown, “because he’s part of the family”. No wonder everything they’ve done is beyond mediocre.

They must have all forgotten that he'd been their touring guitarist for the few years before taking Froosh's spot!
