Oh, and not to mention JF is favoring his hand all the time....shaking off pain, discomfort, or disease at every concert.

OHM outtake "Blender" finally leaked. Pretty cool to finally have all the songs from that era now.

RHCP are coming to Cincinnati in July, there is a Citi card presale that starts today...anybody here have a Citi card and be willing to share any codes? Thanks if so!

That's expensive! I guess it's the norm these days.

Live Nation has that $25 'ALL IN" Concert Week Promo in May.

These are some crazy prices :hs:

I wonder who keeps on paying that.

Answer is: enough people apparently. And as long as everybody keeps paying these prices ...

It's the live experience, you've got to be there etc ... you can buy their discography on vinyl for that price

Yeah I used that to go to two shows last year that were absolutely phenomenal (Lips and Outlaw Fest w/ Robert Plant). I’m hoping there will be some seats left for RHCP I can nab then but I doubt it. I was really hoping to see them but I’m not sitting in the lawn at those prices, and I’m not paying nearly $500 for two tickets/parking etc for seats right in front of the lawn so I can hear maybe 5 songs I really love. Seeing stuff closer going for $750 a pop is just insanity. Then the $1,500 VIP stuff that doesn’t even get you a meet and greet or photo op with band but instead a photo in front of the VIP back drop.

they are playing a casino ampitheater near Sacramento and the tickets were $299-509 plus fees and somehow they still sold out. Fuck those guys.

I've been bitterly disappointed in just about everything since Froosh rejoined. The 2 albums were underwhelming, their choice of venues is simply a money grab, their setlists are a joke and short, and John's performances have all been at patron saint of mediocre levels...if that. I was really hoping they'd play some songs that require Froosh like Venice Queen and others, but nope. Prior to the tour and albums, they had sold their publishing rights so I'm curious what they are trying to cultivate with the new material. Funky hypocritical that AK wrote disdainfully in Scar Tissue opening for the Stones doing their sets exclusively to old fucks who can afford the (back then) 100 jeans from the merch tables. Being from LA and growing up with X, RHCP, Jane's and Fishbone was pretty cool. Jane's is my favorite followed by RHCP, but of all the individuals I always respected Froosh the most. :balls:

Went to see about buying tickets to the Tampa show this morning. Any decent seats are looking at a minimum of $300 a piece after fees. Jesus.

I really wanted to take my kid to the show, but these prices are nuts and really disheartening.

Yes, the tour merch (at least from the Orlando show last year) was ridiculously expensive and the shirts are crap quality with horrible measurements. My XL shirt fit like an XXXL, and the cotton quality is crazy coarse.

With Flea's wife Melody heading all of the merch, I had hoped it would be at least good quality... :waits:

They are clearly in total cash-in mode. Likely feeling their age and knowing it’s time to squeeze every last penny out of it before it’s over.

In the meantime I’ll spend that same money on supporting multiple other bands I want to see. Slowdive w/ Drab Majesty (a personal fav) should be fucking amazing.

That show is going to be so fucking good.

I, too, generally stopped going to alot of those big time arena shows.

Unless I haven't seen someone and they seem to be winding down, I just find a hard time paying 150-200 bucks to be 700 feet from the stage when 20-30 dollar tickets still exist at smaller clubs for new bands who are prepared to slay faces.

I can go to 10 smaller shows for the price of one big one.

And I do.

The 3 continuous members were worth appx 150 mil prior to the rights sale. I guess there is a mechanism I don't understand in the human psyche. If I were them, I would take it as an opportunity do something that isn't commercial for commercials sake.

I don't even know if, at this point, it's about greed when they are already rich.

I almost feel like these dudes all hit a certain point where they are just like "I'm 60, I'm already rich, and everything hurts. I'm not getting off the couch and suffering shin splints for 2 hours a night for less than 10 million dollars"

And their manager, who gets 15%, says "Done"

And the tickets are priced accordingly.

:noclue:

That's not to excuse it. I just think we're paying rich people to make the effort more than anything.

And that also ties in with "opportunity to do something not commercial"

Why would they do that? Why put effort into something no one will hear? They've already got money. Time is all they have left, and not alot of it. If they are getting off the couch it's not to make some weird art rock that their radio fans will immediately dismiss as "the worst work of their career"

My thoughts were they could do something commercial like without commerce being the 1st priority. But too, they could do anything they want. They are big enough to capture a pretty massive audience with whatever they want to do without AARP or Budweiser propping them up. I do agree they don't want to be written off at the end. In a pretty candid moment AK stated was concerned about remaining relevant...and that was back when SA came out. I deconstructed that statement to mean he wanted to produce quality art, but of course he might have meant to remain a force economically. He also mentioned that when he gets a call from management saying where he needs to be, he just shows up.

If I had that money, I wouldn't go through any more pain on this sphere; I'd do exactly what I wanted. Obviously they are and it's still a joke to me.
