Chad still rips it up at live shows and at drum clinics. In fact, he's better now than he ever was before OHM. He truly goes off at shows. But yes, on studio albums he strictly keeps to position of time keeper.

Some of my favorite drummers:
Danny Carey
Sim Cain
Greg Saunier
Jon Theodore
Thomas Pridgen
Tim Alexander
Jimmy Chamberlain
Perkins
Chad Smith
John Bonham
Mitch Mitchell
Josh Freese
Neil Peart

Danny

are ones that I left out. I think Zach is awesome and the stuff he has done with Hella was great. Pretty sure he was in Team Sleep as well but he really didn't go off as much in that.

Weinberg is a rock solid drummer and imo, has been the consistent backbone of Springsteens band the last 30 years. When his commitments to Conan's show during the '09 tour kept him from playing big chunks of that tour, his son (nahh, no nepotism there, lol) who is a decent drummer himself took his place, the difference was night and day.

As for Mick Fleetwood, he is one of those drummers that has a fantastic groove especially paired with bassist John McVie in Fleetwood Mac. This isn't the best showcase of his playing, but it's a great clip regardless:

Just curious. :thumb:

Some excellent experimental drumming.
Best part starts at the 1:00 mark and goes pretty much till the end.

I wish I could play like that. Unfortunately, when I studied drums I didn't took the Making Stupid Faces workshop.

Boy, do I regret it.

Great shout with Mick Fleetwood... definitely agree with that. I'd certainly add Hal Blaine into the mix plus i like Joey Waronker (although i appreciate he is no Mick or Hal).

Loved Dennis Wilson's rawness on early Beach Boys tracks and always thought the Bloc Party drummer was good (no idea of his name though). And what about Meg White? Again, skills are debatable but what a great noise!

That was actually the first class I took. It was all downhill from there...
