It's irritating when bands pretend like the 90% of the US that's not on a coast doesn't exist. Not sure I'd go see them anyway, but this is becoming a trend.

Why would rockstars want to play to a bunch of tea baggers?! :hehe:

A friend of mine caught them ina small venue in San Francisco on the last leg of the tour and she said they were great. I've said it before but I don't these guys get the critical respect they deserve.

Tell me about it. One of the consistently best live bands I used to catch in the early 80's was The J Geils Band. They broke up around '84 and when they finally reunited in '99 and '09, all they did was play East Coast shows. Now I hear they're doing another short tour of, you guessed it, East Coast venues.

As previously reported, ’80s icons Duran Duran have recruited former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante to play guitar on their upcoming 14th studio album. Now, in a post on their official website, the band has unveiled news of another collaborator, and it’s someone quite familiar to the whole Duran Duran family: Chic mastermind and funk provocateur Nile Rodgers. Well, that should make all those fan club members feel slightly better about that impending litigation.

In the post from earlier today (August 10th), the band shared the above picture, featuring all four core members alongside Rodgers and producer Mark Ronson. In accompanying text, both Rodgers and Ronson are credited as “producers,” indicating that the follow-up to 2010’s All You Need Is Now could be entirely co-produced by the pair.

Duran Duran and Rodgers have quite the gold-plated history together. Rodgers produced the 1984 single “The Reflex”, served as a co-producer on 1986’s chart-busting Notorious LP, and produced several tracks on 2004’s Astronaut. Meanwhile, Rodgers and Ronson have performed together on a few occasions, and Rodgers once referred to Ronson as his “little baby brother”.

In addition to the work of R&R (that’s what I am calling Rodgers and Ronson), the album reportedly features contributions from the Voce Chamber Choir and London Youth Chamber Choir. In recent interviews, bassist John Taylor has said, “We didn’t go in trying to capture a particular style, it’s a more organic process. But it does have all the ingredients of a classic Duran album – danceability and great lyrics and hocks, as well as atmospheric parts.”

The untitled album is tentatively due out in spring 2015. Below, revisit a few of Rodgers’ past contributions.

I caught Duran Duran back on the Astronaut tour and they were fucking great. I'd go see them again if they were playing anywhere remotely near me.

Think that's the tour I took my pregnant wife to. I had a good time and would see them again.

New Duran Duran song with NIle Rogers & Janelle Monáe. :noclue:
I didn't really care for it on the fist listen but like it more on the second and third listen.
I'm looking forward to hearing the song with John Frusciante.

I think that's probably more a case of old guys with families who don't feel like launching big tours or traveling too far from home.

Great show last night at the Molson Amphitheatre. Awesome crowd and superb weather. The weird thing was that most people there were my age. Some of the newer bands I see live tend to have a younger fan base, so I'm usually one of the old people in the crowd.
Simon Le Bon still looks and sounds really good.
Unfortunately, I missed Chic's opening set. Nile Rogers did play with DD on a couple of songs though- Notorious and Pressure Off.

Duran Duran are an English new wave/synthpop band formed in Birmingham in 1978. They were a successful band of the 1980s and a leading band in the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" of the US. Wikipedia
Songs like Girls on Film and Rio were hits in about '81 and '82.

Simon Le Bon is Perry Farrell's age- 57.
