The video for this song has been very hard to find for years because Prince supposedly had Youtube block it but a couple years ago, it's back up. I actually like Age Of Chance's version better'n Prince's:

Wow. Truly a "cover" song.

I like it, though I was having difficulty watching CC b/c I kept thinking her was a younger Mickey Rourke.

Funny, when I was watching this, I thought CC reminded me of someone but I couldn't place it. I can see MIckey Rourke, circa Barfly, now that you mention it.

St Vincent does a pretty good cover of the Stones' Emotional Rescue.

This is kind of a backwards cover because I didn't realize Jimi's version was a cover

One of the more notorious covers. Lords Of The New Church "take" of Madonna's "Like A Virgin."

The story behind this was in early 1985, Lords manager Miles Copeland thought it would be a funny gimmick if the band could cover Madonna's recent hit single. As the band was not into such gimmicks, Copeland had to use subtefuge to get at least the principles to do the track. He arranged a day's studio time and had a couple anonymous players record the basic tracks and conned singer Stiv Bator to sing over it. Copeland had a driver pick up guitarist Brian James from his hotel (they were on a break form touring) and bring him to the studio who had no idea this was happening. The rest of the band never played on the track. Copeland cajoled James to play the guitar parts in a couple messy drunken takes and a couple months later the song was released as a double A-Side single much to the surprise of the band and became a minor novelty hit. Less than a year later Copeland dropped the band from his label, IRS Records.

The piano makes it sound almost too close to a Paul McCartney song. But when Arlo's voice comes in, it really pops -- like, I think they work better together than Tegan and Sara. Phoebe's voice is almost too pure for that song. It gives it an almost ironic feel. Beautiful, but not haunting at all, they way I'd have expected it to be.

In the screenshot he looks like Gaddafi, which means he also looks like an aging Santana.

The Idles cover of Damaged Goods sounds great! It sounds like the original which is not a bad thing... :thumb:

IDLES’ new cover of Gang Of Four’s iconic anti-capitalist anthem “Damaged Goods,” produced by Kenny Beats, comes from The Problem of Leisure: A Celebration Of Andy Gill And Gang Of Four, a covers album paying tribute to Gang Of Four and guitarist Andy Gill, who tragically passed last year. The cover is almost identical to the original, though Joe Talbot’s aggressive, accented vocals turn it into an even angrier anthem. It captures the timelessness of this song and Gang Of Four itself, underlining the way so many current post-punk bands have gathered influence from Gang Of Four’s idiosyncratic, inventive sound.

Metallica are celebrating the 30th anniversary of “The Black Album” with two big releases: a massive deluxe reissue and remaster and The Metallica Blacklist, a covers album featuring 53 artists’ takes on songs from the 1991 blockbuster.
