To refresh our memories on eligibility:

Eligibility

To be eligible for induction as an artist (as a performer, composer, or musician) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the artist must have released a record, in the generally accepted sense of that phrase, at least 25 years prior to the year of induction; and have demonstrated unquestionable musical excellence.

We shall consider factors such as an artist's musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique, but musical excellence shall be the essential qualification of induction.

How Donna Summers was even considered proves that place is a farce...

They passed over Joan Jett & Heart.

Wonder if the Chili's will invite Dave.

Wonder if Axl will show up on time.

They do everything they can to forget that period of the band by never playing OHM songs so maybe they wont invite him. But he ought to be there I think

Hopefully, he'll wear something a little more tasteful than that gold number he wore recently. Can Axl and Slash stand to be in the same room??

The experiment just didn't work. I appreciate the value that is ascribed by people who are Navarro advocates, but it failed....and quickly.

Flea, just this year, discussed how it devolved, saying that Navarro never trusted the band, noe accepted his position in it. Further Navarro refused the support they were trying to give him. He hated the collaborations and wanted a more independent song writing proccess. He actaully described him as paranoid. :lolol:

Smith and Keidis just this year said they liked the album (but all of them maintain it could have been much better), but the feel of the album just doesn't fit well with their setlists. Only Pea has ever been performed live since the supporting tour.

In their history, Navarro was nothing more than a band-aid.

Yes, Axl is rather rotund these days.

I just read they looked over the Cure, which is somewhat surprising given Robert Smith's influence on a lot of the newer bands as well as his prolific output

The Cure, The Smiths...
Both passed over.

As for Dave & OHM-it peaked at 4 on billboard and 2 in the UK. That was not a shabby show. 5 years is not a shabby stay. Considering Anthony relapsed for most of Dave's 5 year tenure....I still say he shoould be invited.

To Axl's credit, he managed to not look like Vince Neil till he was 50.

Vince Neil has looked like that since 30.

I predict Axl will not allow the other original members up to the podium with him for any acceptance speech and he especially won't play any tunes with the original members of the band.

I'm more interested in whether the Chili Peppers will have Irons, Navarro and Frusciante up with them when they play a few tunes.

definitely and OHM is better than the last four Chili Peppers albums too. It's so lame that Flea and Anthony say that it could have been so much better, cause it doesn't have to be. It's a great album the way it is with amazing songs like Warped, Deep Kick, My Friends, Coffee Shop etc. I actually think every song on there is great as opposed to By the way for instance where three songs or something like that are good, not great

I can't furnish the interview because I pulled the info from OHM's Wiki page and I'm way to lazy to go through the heroic amount of promo Nov 2011 interviews....here's the link and the info below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Hot_Minute

'In a November 2011 interview, Flea openly discussed the chemistry with Dave saying that he never gave the band his heart. He's a great guitarist but he never trusted in the band. He neither wanted our love nor out backing/support. Flea said maybe that's how it works in other bands but we need the mutual love for bloossoming. In our band he never felt safe with us, he was paranoid for whatever reason. A big difference compared to the Dave I played with in Jane's Addiction.[36]'

Personally I understand people's concern with AK's using, but DN was using too. But these facts only diminish in my mind the actual productivity of the "5 year stint" as a member of the Chilis. This album alone took over 2 years to make. I couldn't care less if DN is given a beautiful gesture and included, but his contribution to the Chilis idenity is miniscule at best.

The Cure's omission is laughable.

I like a few songs by The Smiths...but I've never understood the obsessive fans that the band has had since the 80s. I just don't get it. :noclue:

Dave was clean for 4 out of the 5 years with the peppers, he relapsed in 96-97.
So Dave was clean, Anthony wasn't.

But that's here nor there....

AK was clean from sometime after Hillel's death around 88-89 until 98 (I recall an MTV news video where he talked about this in 98).

no, Anthony even talked about his relapse during that period in "Scar Tissue" and how DAVE was the one who went looking for him in a seedy hotel & try and convince him to go to rehab or a meeting...

Which is why at first when Dave was fired because of his relapse he found it ironic and was very angry that Anthony used that as a excuse.
