The Death And Resurrection Show documentary is finally up for pre-order on the website. Lots of extras, should be good. Only downside is .... this is Killing Joke where you're taking a risk pre-ordering anything connected with these guy.

Might be the first time I regret leaving sf.

Seems there would be more US dates added if it actually happens.

Well, it's a start anyways. :noclue:

I can't imagine them playing only 2 shows in the US, especially just on the West Coast.

There is questions about this tour already coming up, one being Jaz has repeatedly said earlier this year that they were going to play Australia and NZ in November but more importantly, their long time keybaord player Reza and his own band Inertia has a extensive US tour booked for November here in the US while KJ would be playing Europe. They've played with a substitute drummer and a roadie filling in for Youth on bass on various dates the last few tours, so I guess it's not unheard of they'd bring in a sub for keys but it seems like one of those cases where the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

Incredibly fucked up dating back to the early 80's when frontman Jaz Coleman abrupted ditched the band and fled to Iceland the week they released their newest album "Revelations" thinking the Apocalypse was about to happen. The rest of the band had to perform/lip sync their new single on tv with a dummy in a space suit and hat standing in front of the keyboards in place of their frontman.

Among other catastrophies, they solicited a mail order only album called "Gems Of Power" about 15 - 20 years ago, took the money from thousands of fans and never delivered the album or refunded the money, Jaz later claiming the tapes were "stolen." Just a few years ago, Killing Joke was going to do a short series of shows with The Cult and The Mission in the UK and Jaz publicly slammed the other bands as hacks (Youth had produced The Cult's 2007 album, btw) and "disappeared" for a couple months leaving KJ to cancel their spot on the shows. Jaz later showed up in Egypt (I think) like nothing happened.

Yes, a tremendously difficult band to be a fan of with all the BS and shady crap surrounding them. I will say they have maintained a fairly consistent level of quality on their studio albums which helps a great deal.

Looks like the final dates are locked in for the tour which is UK and Europe only, no US dates. I have no idea what they're promoting this time around as there's no new studio album or any sort of collection due out before the end of the year. The Pledge Music "Symphonic Killing Joke" project Jaz Coleman is doing won't likely happen until the beginning of 2017.

Apparently, Killing Joke is gearing up for a busy second half of 2018 to celebrate the bands 40th anniversary. For starters, they are reissung the 2010 reunion album "Absolute Dissent" remastered on vinyl for Record Store Day. Later this year, they are issuing the self-titled 2003 album on vinyl for the first time. There is also talk they are gearing up to record a new studio album. Finally, they will be touring which supposedly will include US dates.

As always with this band, it isn't done until you hold the product in your hands or are walking into the concert venue the night of the show.

That's fantastic!

I will be shocked if this happens.......

The Star theater in Portland is a hole in the wall.....you could maybe fit a hundred people in there. That will probably be sufficient as well.

Just announced on Pledge, a massive KISS-esque metal flight case containing special editions of all their studio albums with lots of rare and unreleased tracks plus a book and headphones. The vinyl release will cost well over $1,200US with shipping and the CD set over $550. Too rich even for this completest' blood.

Also many of the US dates are going on sale this Friday.... the 13th. What could possibly go wrong?

Went to the show last night in Portland. It was the third time I've seen them and would have to say it was the cleanest performance I have seen them do! I hadn't been to the Star Theater, but it was sold out, definitely packed, I was concerned about that, and it was really, really loud. Jaz's voice was really good and high in the mix. The only downside I would have to say was the typical greatest hits setlist which I guess you would expect for a 40th anniversary show.
Here is what I could remember them playing, highlight for me was definitely Butcher.

S.O.36
European Super State
Autonomous Zone
Eighties
New Cold War
Requiem
Butcher
Turn to Red
Follow the Leaders
Loose Cannon
Change
Corporate Elect

Also....
The Wait
Death and Resurrection Show
and I think a couple more songs

It was funny when I got there I was waiting around in this outdoor courtyard attached to the venue having a drink and non nonchalantly this security guy comes through a gate from the street and following him is some dude wearing a heavy ratty hoody pulling a beat up hardcase roller bag, shuffling along and staring down at the ground. He wanders past me and I was thinking why did he let let this guy in behind him and then I realize it's Jaz just moseying by with his rollybag going backstage. I assume his black mechanics jumpsuit was in the luggage.

Anyways, they are in good form, the whole band was there, except Reza, maybe his tech was playing the synthesizer. ?

good show! :thumb:

Similar thing happened back when I saw them in 2003 - standing in the line to get in The El Ray Theater, there's these two guys standing nearby having a smoke in beat up hoodies looking like homeless people with black face paint around their eyes. They walk past the line and go in the front door and it's Jaz and Paul Raven.

Been hearing good things about the few West Coast shows so far, good to hear the 4 guys are playing and no subs. Another downside to Reza not in the tour lineup is probably no home-made bootlegs of this tour - he usually sells authorized soundboard recordings on eBay after a tour. Another thing I hear is they canceled the massive $1,000+ complete studio albums flight case box after only a couple hundred people ponied up for it over nearly a year on their PledgeMusic site.

Really looking forward to tomorrow's LA show.

Wow, great show in LA last night. Killing Joke played at The Regent Theater, which is an old, sorta-renovated movie theater just a few blocks from Skid Row in downtown LA. All this time seeing shows in SoCal, this was my first visit to The Regent. Waiting in line to get in, people got hassled by a few aggressive panhandlers but no big deal.

As the place was a theater with a small balcony, the concrete floor is steeply slanted towards the front so it’s easy to see over heads but after a few hours, your legs are killing ya (I can’t even imagine what fun it is for the ladies wearing high heels). I've heard a lot of negative comments about the sound system, but for the most part it delivered the goods and was nice and bassy when needed. As I stupidly left my ear protection in the car - it was pretty fuckin' loud - I'm deaf today, lol! I guess The Regent management got a lot of heat for the wildly inappropriate decor in the mens and women's restrooms (giant collages of XXX hardcore porn of mostly naked women) so now it's all gray walls, lol!

This band called PIG opened the show (about 9pm) and was a mildly entertaining NIN/Rammstein-eque trio but ultimately I can’t say I have any need to seek out whatever they’ve released. Killing Joke’s crew set their band’s gear up in record time they were ready to play 15 minutes after PIG was done.

Killing Joke came on to the usual intro tape featuring music from Eyes Wide Shut. The set which appeared to be the same as in San Francisco the night before includes songs from all across their career including the usual well known early career tunes like Requiem, Wardance, Eighties, etc. Love Like Blood was a surprisingly effective opener, much more than deeper cut S.O.36 which has been moved to open the encore. The interesting thing about the set this tour is certain pairings of songs really jack up the energy level and crowd feedback. Notably Autonomous Zone and Eighties, Requiem and Butcher, Follow The Leader and Loose Cannon (big highlight) and The Death And Resurrection Show (excellent version, btw) and Wardance. The entire band appear to think the audience participation for Asteroid is the funniest thing on the planet.

Band all appeared in excellent spirits and top form. Big Paul drummed his ass off on what is a pretty demanding set. Youth was his typical bouncy, happy self, even got a joke in on Geordie (“introducing Jaz Coleman” pointing at the Big G which made him laugh). Someone who looks like Nikki Sixx is on keys in place of Reza. Jaz’ voice was really strong 95% of the show. It really makes a big difference seeing them at the beginning of a tour versus the end when they are usually burned out. They still schlep across the country together in a big tour bus.

Of all the Killing Joke LA shows I’ve seen since 2003, this was probably the most intimate and featured the most appreciative and active crowd. Early in the set, a decent mosh pit started up and kept going through much of the show. Lotta hardcore fans fulla energy up front and center. The show was sold out but the theater was small enough to probably hold maybe 1,000 people.

My only complaint was the awful bars. What bar doesn’t have JD, Bacardi or even Kahlua?!? Thus, no Jack and Coke, no Bicardi and Coke and no Black Russian!?! I’m afraid if I asked for a Long Island Iced Tea, the chick woulda scooped something out of the toilet and presented it to me in a tall glass with an umbrella sticking out of a turd. Thus, reluctantly responsible, I crafted my non-buzz with iced water. After the show, I had to drive clear around West LA to the 405 freeway to get home as all the freeway transitions heading into Orange County were closed or limited for overnight road construction.

If anyone has even a thought about seeing them this tour, do it, you won't be disappointed.
