I watched Brightburn on Blu-ray last night. I went in to this movie totally blind to the premise and overall liked it but with the caveat it's not a great movie.

The plot is basically a dark mirror telling of the origin of a Superman-like baby who crashes to earth in a small spacecraft on a Kansas farm and adopted by a childless couple. You could trace the story back to The Bible and in the case of "What A Twist" stories on Supermans origin, it's really been done countless times especially the past few decades. This version includes a lot of horror/gore elements which gave the film a bit of an edge.

The movie's far from perfect and seems polarizing to most viewers who have seen it - either love or hate it. The idea that "Superman" comes to our planet and eventually becomes a soulless, homicidal maniac with the sole intention of fucking with humankind like a twisted kid using a magnifying glass to burn ants for chuckles seems a bit one-dimensional. One the other hand, most of the characters react to situations logically and don't do stupid things for "GOTCHA!" moment like most horror/slasher flicks these days which was refreshing.

I was disappointed in it. It was OK but somewhat boring. I know you are supposed to love every movie he does but I just didn't love it. Lots of boring old movie re-creations and boring dialog.

Brad Pitt's character was far more interesting than Leo's. Go get popcorn when Leo is in a scene without Brad.

7/10
I disagree, it was long, but I would watch it again. It helped watching Pulp Fiction again before seeing it. It was nice to see so many cameos. I loved the soundtrack as always.

So this movie "Fanatic" is written, directed, produced, etc by Fred Durst(!) and stars John Travolta doing what appears to be the Simple Jack character from Tropic Thunder as an obsessed fan of some actor. On it's opening weekend, the movie grossed something like $3,500.00 nationwide and has been brutally panned by critics. It looks so godawful, I have to see it.

:lolol: Me too

It can't be worse than this one. I saw this one in a movie theater. Unbelievably awful. Both De Niro and Travolta did it just for the money.

See, this is weird, because there's an old movie staring De Niro called "The Fan" that seems like it's the same exact premise as "The Fanatic" except about sports.

DiNero's done some awful movies. I think he saw Nicolas Cage's career arc and thought he could one-up him.

His last great one to me was Ronin. I think he started taking shitty film roles to help fund the Tribeca Film Festival

Saw Leave No Trace about a homeless vet and his daughter who lived in Forest Park (a large urban park in portland) for 4 years undetected. It was really really good.

It was based on true story from early 2000s, but its pretty much that times 1000 here now... :wavesad:

I saw Ad Astra. I'm not a sci-fi movie fan but this was really good. It wasn't about CGI and special effects and space battles...it was just a really interesting story.

The reviews sound like Interstellar for dummies. Personally; Brad Pitt's best rolls are when he has very few actual speaking lines. Thelma and Lousie, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and True Romance.
Cute as a button and just as smart.

Well, not sure what that means, but ok. From what I've seen it looks closer to your bud miggy. I'll take a look and then never respond.

Your tastes are fairly opposite of what I like close to every time.

I liked it. Would I watch it again? nope. It's a sad topic for me. But for me it was more than the mental illness thing.

I know it's getting enough good press that no one needs another endorsement, but Parasite is well worth seeing:
