I agree...
For the last couple of weeks I haven't been able to get tickets for Alfonso Cuarón's "Roma". It sells out the day they're out, anywhere. It will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 16, but I really wanted to see it in a movie theater with Dolby Atmos sound system since it doesn't have a music score, only background noises.
Watched it in a movie theater and on Netflix. Both times 4k resolution and 7.1 surround sound in movie theater. I recommend listening at 75% volume because it's mostly background noises.
If you are still undecided, read this:

Last week I won tickets for "Life itself". Oh, boy. I used to love movies with people dying of cancer and all, but this was too much. It was written by the guy of "This is Us". If I had watched the show before, I guess I would have known it was going to be sort of depressing.

I went to see “The House That Jack Built.” I’d place it below Melancholia, Nymphomaniac and Antichrist and Dogville, but it’s still very good. The last chapter is visually stunning.

6.5/10

BlacKkKlansman
Blindspotting
Burning
The Death of Stalin
Eighth Grade
If Beale Street Could Talk
Leave No Trace
Minding the Gap
The Rider
Roma

gave Godfather 1 another chance after I hadn' watched it in about five years. Back then I actually gave my box set containing 1, 2, 3 away because I was sure I was never ever gonna waste another minute watching these movies again. Still hate it. Why the fuck tons of people out there see this slow moving, boring, lifeless piece of shit as the best movie ever made, way ahead of ALL other movies and as an acting masterclass is such a fuckin mystery to me. What?! We don't have a suicide emoticon anymore?! Fuck

The only one I saw was Minding the Gap. If you have Hulu it's worth watching. It's really good. I tied to watch eighth grade but gave up after about 20 minutes.

Out of that list I've seen Won't You Be My Neighbor and Blindspotting. Both were really good, enjoyed Won't You Be My Neighbor more.

I saw that Sandra Bullock movie Bird Box and really liked it. It's on Netflix now..

I keep seeing people say how terrible bird box is. I think it is cool and hip to say you hate it. It's not going to win any awards but it was an entertaining movie. :noclue:

Exactly. I thought they did a pretty good job with suspense. I was hooked the whole time watching it. I did not expect that ending.

In one line, what's it about? Saw this and thought I'd watch it but was put off by negative comments.

I'm not alone. A review from Rotten tomatoes:

You are pretty much alone. It has a 98% RT score for audiences and critics. 100 on metacritic. :hs:

This thread title always makes me wonder what happened to Jasper. Did I miss something? Also, I seem to recall that this thread title was inspired by one I made in a similar vein but I can't remember.

I'm guessing that about 60% of them say they think it's the greatest movie of all time, because it's somehow become the cool thing to say, not because they really mean it.

Basically, some kind of supernatural force takes over the world that makes people want to inflict violence on themselves or others if they look at it directly. The movie is set over a few time periods and the survivors survive by not looking at this thing directly and try to escape it.

Maybe it just wasn’t your thing... but it’s definitely one of the best movies *ever*. Same for Part 2.

Have you seen Goodfellas? If so, what’s your opinion on that? Because that’s another fantastic film about organised crime that some people find boring and lame.

Watched Birdbox and really enjoyed it! Like a zombie apocalypse....without the zombies.

Bohemian Rhapsody is wonderful. Would love to watch it again.

Goodfellas and Casino are WAY better as far as 'gangster' movies go. IMO.
