I remember being pretty damn crushed when I found out Perry sacked him. As great a technical musician as Chaney is, Martyn is the only one who has come close to channeling Eric's vibe.clickie wrote:Thats what I was thinking too when I watched it. I miss Martyn.

Did Satellite Party sell more than Deconstruction? How do both bands compare to what TGEA sold? Woof.clickie wrote: sold about 10 albums.

Ironically, wasn't it about drugs, if I recall correctly? He's been clean, thriving and with Ms. Applegate for some time; I wonder what the dynamic is between Perry and Martyn is at the present, and if he's pursuing music.clickie wrote: I found out Perry sacked him.

I never said that. Its a false qoute that you made up.

I remember that was said a number of times, but I think it was completely unfounded, as Martyn had been healthy and sober for a good while. He got fired after the Fuji Rock festival, during which Perry said he was fucking up playing.cricket_bows wrote:Ironically, wasn't it about drugs, if I recall correctly? The linchpin seemed to be Bob Ezrin during the recording of Strays that soured Perry. He was hellbent on turning Jane's into a stadium rock act, and the only one who was vehemently against this was Martyn.
For Martyn's side, check this interview Hoka did with him back in 2005. Good read:
Interviews/martyn05.htm
My favorite part of the interview was where Bob Ezrin told Martyn he hated Ritual and couldn't even listen to it.

I bought the Satellite party CD. I think I listened to it 3 times in its entirety before I started using it as a drink coaster.cricket_bows wrote:Did Satellite Party sell more than Deconstruction? How do both bands compare to what TGEA sold? Woof.clickie wrote: sold about 10 albums.
Re: Holy shit! FINALLY! Casey & Dave @MTV Awards [VIDEO]
it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be, I'd way rather listen to SP than the TGEA cause the songwriting is better and there's some cool guitar playing on it too here and there
Re: Holy shit! FINALLY! Casey & Dave @MTV Awards [VIDEO]
I cant remember what happened to my copy. I think I was rummaging around an old backpack a few years ago and noticed there was a shattered cd at the bottom. I was like oh yeah Satellite Party.Artemis wrote:I bought the Satellite party CD. I liked chatting with Martyn. Like the rest of those guys, he was a unique guy. None of them seemed like they were from this planet.
Re-reading that interview, I wonder if Perry meant verbal feedback? I'd never thought of it that way.

You guys were pretty close back in the day.

Does anyone know if Martyn ever finished that album? Because I loved those tracks... I have them somewhere... but I'd love to hear more like that.hokahey wrote:I liked chatting with Martyn. Like the rest of those guys, he was a unique guy. None of them seemed like they were from this planet.

I think I understand what you guys are saying. All their success revolved around how far Perry was willing to push himself.
